I also like Clara, husband loves Eve but I'm not sure because it's quite popular at the moment!

@Notdoingthis

But in Spanish Dolores literally translates to pain.
Uh huh, but when used as a name it's more nuanced than that.

@Rolypolybabies

I have a Lola, she is the happiest, loveliest kid. She was called Florence for the first week we had her and I'm so glad we changed it. Fabulous name. She loves it when every dog is called Lola in the park and her nickname is Lollipop. Go for it Grin
So cute

Lola is dreadful. Brassy is a good description, no coincidence many pp see the same connotations.
Prefer Cara to Clara.
Too many Eves, Eva, Evie's, Ella's, Ellie's.

DD(25) is called Lola and loves it, but doesn't love the fact that she meets a lot of pets who share her name!!

@inappropriateraspberry

And Lola makes me think of Barry Manilow, the Kinks song or Lolita.
Yes, and bizarrely I think some parents (bizarrely) seem to like the sexy/showgirl angle — one Lola under ten that I know has sisters called. Brandi and Lexi, the other has a sister called Crystal.

It’s the association with the Mother of Sorrows and a load of lugubrious religious art that would freak me out, though.

Lola is bordering on chavvy. Clara is beautiful.

Cookiebox · 08/08/2021 09:27

It's tacky.

HerMammy · 08/08/2021 09:27

I know lots of dogs called Lola, very popular pet name.
Eve is lovely.

Mayhemmumma · 08/08/2021 09:32

Lola is very popular here.

Eve i've not heard - only Evie or Eva.

Clara is very pretty

Twinkie01 · 08/08/2021 09:39

Common and not in the there are many of them way.

Crowsaregreat · 08/08/2021 09:40

Nola is also a name

MrsFin · 08/08/2021 09:55

I know a few Lolas. It makes me think of a stripper out a drag Queen though. I don't like it. Sorry OP.

Namechangeforthisquestion7 · 08/08/2021 10:24

It doesn't have to be short for Dolores. I am Lovisa with nn Lola, always loved my name Smile I also know an Eloise nn Lola.

MadeOfStarStuff · 08/08/2021 11:38

I really like Lola but I think Clara is my favourite of your shortlist

I don’t think Eve is super popular but combined with Evie/Evelyn/Eva it would be

isthisouting · 08/08/2021 13:34

I love Lola but I think it means sadness.

I vote Clara!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/08/2021 16:25

Love classic Eve - simple, elegant and cool. Clara is a bit trendier again at the moment but still a beautiful name imo. Not keen on Lola, sorry - I think it will date more than your other choices (it also doesn't feel as elegant to me, but that's probably because I now can't get Copacabana out my head...)

Everything you say is true, but I'm soo stuck on Lola.

Maybe that'll change over the coming months

Lola is pretty popular. I teach a year 7 class with two Lolas.

Eve is beautiful but will merge with all of the Evie / Eva / Ava names.

I absolutely love Clara.
