I really cant make my mind up but I think I like it.

my husband keeps throwing names out there, I get attached and he then decides he doesnt like it. he is really keen on the name Ace/Acer. I like Ace more but do like the name Acer based on the meaning (number one/the best). we have a daughter called Ada as well for a bit of background.

thoughts or any ideas of other names!?

No. It's awful.
I like short sharp names but not this one!

ItPearl · 23/07/2021 18:32

Different style but i liked Victor because of its meaning.
Ada and Victor have a similar porch sitter vibe.

PurplePansy05 · 23/07/2021 18:33

I love it. It will be my son's nn.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 23/07/2021 18:36

Acer is a computer
Ada and Ace is ridiculous, sorry

GreyhoundG1rl · 23/07/2021 18:36

No.

romdowa · 23/07/2021 18:37

Just reminds me of ace ventura.

BumBurnerBum · 23/07/2021 18:37

Smoke me a kipper, ill be back for breakfast!

And... no

BumBurnerBum · 23/07/2021 18:38

Acer is also a tree.

There is literally nothing wrong with Ada.

StevieNix · 23/07/2021 18:39

Definitely not considering you already have an Ada.
If you didn’t then Ace is ok, Acer just reminds me of the computer brand

PreacherTeacher · 23/07/2021 18:40

I teach an Ace. She's lovely.

MiddleParking · 23/07/2021 18:41

You could have Asa, but probably not when you already have an Ada.

morepizzapls · 23/07/2021 18:42

I do also think acer and ada sound quite samey because they have the a sound at the beginning and end? my husband has been such hard work with boy names its beginning to get quite irritating lol!

I'm not sure why ada and ace is ridiculous though? is it because they are both short? I did consider kit and Leo too so I hope that isnt the reason why 😂

This was my first thought too - but I do like the name. I’m not sure I’d use it if I had an Ada, but that’s absolutely your call.

Acer is too well known as the computer brand, I think.

Pawpatrolling88 · 23/07/2021 18:43

Smokin’! Sorry Ace Ventura for me.

NiceGerbil · 23/07/2021 18:43

Commonly used currently to mean asexual.

So I wouldn't

Philandbill · 23/07/2021 18:44

1970s Jilly Cooper hero.

morepizzapls · 23/07/2021 18:45

I have to be honest, I dont know the kipper reference lol!

Scarby9 · 23/07/2021 18:45

I prefer the Asa spelling, but I do think it is far too similar to Ada.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 23/07/2021 18:45

Yep, Stoke me a klipper! And 'what a guy!!!'

I love Ace Rimmer, but its a no from me!

morepizzapls · 23/07/2021 18:45

oh I was born in the 90s so that probably explains that one!

I think you are having a wee joke here. If you’re not and you’re serious then the answer is no definitely not! Sounds ridiculous

morepizzapls · 23/07/2021 18:46

the name ace is soaring popularity - def not a joke!

Chunkymenrock · 23/07/2021 18:47

Asa is a nicer spelling. But it's not a great name really. He'll spend most of his life as an adult and it's weird for an adult.t. What about Asher instead?

Daftasabroom · 23/07/2021 18:47

Be careful with identical initials, DS and I have the same, we never gave it a moments thought but it's a pain in bum now

ItPearl · 23/07/2021 18:50

Jude goes well with Ada

Asa means handle in Spanish. Too random and banal if you speak Spanish
