Which baby names would you use if you didn't have to consider connotations, public perception or fear of ridicule?

Strawberry(I love the sound but would never use it IRL.
Pepper(No idea why mine are food related.

For a boy.
Fox(That one is used I know)
Darwin
Sailor
Horatio

There's more but I've suddenly forgotten them.

What names would you use if you had complete freedom to choose?

Wolf
Cosmo

I love these-
"Love"
"Stormi"
"Sunday"
"Peach"

Also love Darwin for a boy!

SnitchyBitch · 17/07/2021 14:30

I know a Darwin, it’s a cool name.

Stichintime · 17/07/2021 14:36

Precious, Blossom, Flame, Sunny,

popcorndiva · 17/07/2021 14:38

Angel delight as a middle name for DD. I do joke to DH about it, but it could easily be a name

For a boy it would be Tiger

Sparring · 17/07/2021 14:41

Lots of great names here. I particularly like Wolf and Tiger.

I've met a little girl called Sunday. It actually really suited her.

I also like Ginger, Ariadne, Honey, Meadow, Tansy and Prairie for a girl. What is it with me and food related names?

YoComoManzanas · 17/07/2021 14:42

Rhino (boy)
Storm (girl)
Sequoia (boy)
Zephyr

Sparring · 17/07/2021 14:42

Also Waverley for a girl. I've met a girl called London and I've liked it since, though wouldn't use it IRL.

Cosmo is hardly out there I know several.

However, one name that I like but wouldn’t use is Romany. Not because it’s that out there, just because it’s a bit naff. Like it all the same.

LividLaVidaLoca · 17/07/2021 14:46

I was just in the Zebedee thread and deadly serious Grin

JuneFromBethesda · 17/07/2021 14:46

Octavia, Araminta. Would never have been brave enough!

Sparring · 17/07/2021 14:57

Other boy names I like but probably wouldn't use.

Jet
Wilder
Fisher(I met one and it really worked for him)
Thornton
Anakin
Cruise
Titus
August
Beckett
Whittaker

I love American style surname names if that makes sense,

gillysSong · 17/07/2021 14:59

Cinderella
Isaiah

Congressdingo · 17/07/2021 15:07

I know a Rain and a Tuesday. And I have a unusual name too so the rare occasions we are out together we probably sound weird.
I love both their names, not so keen on mine.

Alannawhorideslikeaman · 17/07/2021 15:08

Briar for a boy, love it. Benedetta for a girl.

Kanaloa · 17/07/2021 15:08

Salve for a girl & Friday for a boy. Wouldn’t use them though dd5 came perilously close to being called Salve.

Orphlids · 17/07/2021 15:13

For a girl: Loveday, Lennox, Faraday, Isolde, Mimi, Boudicca.
For a boy: Uther, Rollo, Loxley, Fable.

LostThings · 17/07/2021 15:16

Jupiter for a boy.

EssentialHummus · 17/07/2021 15:19

I know a little Zephyr and a Darwin, wouldn't use them but didn't have me raising eyebrows.

TBH after having to correct people on DD's oddly pronounced three-letter name since birth now, I'm tending towards the conventional.

cariadlet · 17/07/2021 15:24

I really dislike wacky yoonique names and surnames as first names .

I know a Tansy. I think it's unusual but not unconventional; there's a very long tradition of using flower names for girls.

Sparring · 17/07/2021 15:26

There are so many great names here. I particularly love Isolde, Jupiter and Rollo.

Hendrix is another boy name that I'd add to my list.

I love Clover 😍

Sparring · 17/07/2021 15:28

Clover is gorgeous.

Adding Winter for a girl and Walker for a boy.

cariadlet · 17/07/2021 15:30

@Tay1980

I love Clover 😍
I'd say that's pretty but - as a flower name - not particularly "out there". My first thought is Katy's sister (What Katy Did and the sequels).
MissMissTorrance · 17/07/2021 15:30
