Which baby names would you use if you didn't have to consider connotations, public perception or fear of ridicule?

Strawberry(I love the sound but would never use it IRL.
Pepper(No idea why mine are food related.

For a boy.
Fox(That one is used I know)
Darwin
Sailor
Horatio

There's more but I've suddenly forgotten them.

What names would you use if you had complete freedom to choose?

Angel2702 · 17/07/2021 15:35

Herbert for a boy

I’ve always liked Hepzibah for a girl.

NotRainingToday · 17/07/2021 15:35

@Sparring

Other boy names I like but probably wouldn't use.

Jet
Wilder
Fisher(I met one and it really worked for him)
Thornton
Anakin
Cruise
Titus
August
Beckett
Whittaker

I love American style surname names if that makes sense,

I went to school with a Titus. His mates called him Tit. Affectionately, but Tit all the same!

Bluebell for a girl. I'd never in a million years use it though

Tay1980 · 17/07/2021 15:47

Oooo I like Piper 😍

girlmama32 · 17/07/2021 15:51

I looked after a little girl called Navy James a few years ago, loved the name since but I don't think I'd use it IRL.

For a boy I like Hudson, Wells, Grey, Beckett, Stanley, Rhett, Edison.
For a girl my faves are Lainey, Aubrie, Darby, Beatrix, Callie, Alba, Reesa.

RaindropsOnRosie · 17/07/2021 15:51

Adolphe, it's a family name but probably not the best choice.

WindFlower92 · 17/07/2021 15:55

Girl - Bluebell and Pepper. Vetoed by DH and as our last name is also a colour I don't think they would go!

fantastaballs · 17/07/2021 16:07

For a girl I love Serendipity. Also Gaia, Demelza, and Angharad.

For a boy I love Atticus, oak, Cyrus and Julius

MuggleStudiesResearchProject · 17/07/2021 16:19

Blythe for a girl is just lovely

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/07/2021 23:27

Cassiopeia - sometimes considered too "try hard"
Galatea - as above
Persephone - as above
Nikita - often seems to be thought of as downmarket on a girl
Saga - could get called Saggy
Apollo - see Cassiopeia
Orion - gets confused with Onion
Wolf - I've heard both try hard and downmarket
Rollo - misspronunciation and try hard/dogs name

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/07/2021 23:28

mispronunciation, sorry!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 17/07/2021 23:28

Oh and Merlin, but again "try hard", will be teased etc

ThatsNicePet · 17/07/2021 23:32

danadas · 17/07/2021 23:40

Ember
Bracken

Basically the sort of names the riding school ponies or your childhood dog would be called 😁
