Thoughts??

Due in 3 days and still stuck for names!
Also like Alice but I feel like that is rising in popularity currently?
Elizabeth is after DPs grandmother

I prefer Alice and Elizabeth to Olive.
If you want to use Olive as a first name Elizabeth as a mn.
Olive Alice doesn't flow very well.

If you are using Olive as a first name, check that it sounds ok with the surname. It might look and sound odd with some surnames.

Both are nice names but Olive trendier than Alice. It’s rising sharply in popularity and was 107 on England and Wales list from 2019. Alice is more popular (number 24) but has been far more steady. It’s on a slight downward curve at the moment but has been constantly in the top fifty for over thirty years. It depends what’s important to you. You are more likely to run across other Alices but Olive is more likely to date.

BingBongToTheMoon · 05/07/2021 14:56

I like it.

Divineswirls · 05/07/2021 14:58

Olive doesn't have a pleasant ring about it imho

NoMoreTractors · 05/07/2021 15:05

I think Olive is lovely. As is Alice (my DDs name). How about Olive Eliza?

loves2plan · 05/07/2021 15:09

Love it! Beautiful name

VariousVeins · 05/07/2021 15:09

I really like it

EssentialHummus · 05/07/2021 15:10

Olive is bit trendier / less classic than Alice and Elizabeth. I like PP’s suggestion of Olive Eliza.

Aquamarine1029 · 05/07/2021 15:11

I really dislike Olive.

nightlarking · 05/07/2021 15:12

I love Olive Elizabeth. I say go for it.

ThePearlOfDumbarton · 05/07/2021 15:12

I think of Olive as being a food item. Which it is I know. But unlike Fern or Rowan, it's just to easy to visualise it as food.

I like Elizabeth Alice best.

AlwaysonEtsy · 05/07/2021 15:30

It’s definitely a marmite name isn’t it!
DP is not actually keen on either. We just can’t agree! My hormones are all over the place at the moment and it is not considered to baby naming Sad

Intensely dislike Olive. Like Olivia tho it’s very over-used.

Who would want to be named after a green snack?

Alice or Elizabeth would be better.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 05/07/2021 15:40

I didn't know Olive was making a comeback, I think it's an awful name but maybe that only applies to those of us old enough to know On The Buses

TatianaBis · 05/07/2021 15:43

Or The Bostonians.

TonkinLenkicks · 05/07/2021 15:55

Love it x

PattyPan · 05/07/2021 16:31

I don’t think they flow very well together - in my accent it sounds more like Oliver Lizabeth. Elizabeth Olive is nicer. I like Alice Elizabeth as well. Alice is classic but not too popular.

AlwaysonEtsy · 05/07/2021 16:51

@PattyPan you are so right, it does sound like that! Thank you

Oh bless you, it took me weeks to name DS, there's no rush! Other names I liked;
Evelyn
Eden
Esther
Maive
Martha
Eleanor

Olive, Alice and Elizabeth are all beautiful names.
Olive Elizabeth is lovely.
Elizabeth Olive is also nice.
Alice and Olive don't go together.
I would just pick whichever first name you like best as her middle name will probably be barely mentioned after her first month of life.

BiBabbles · 05/07/2021 17:07

I think it's nice, though I can see how accent might cause an issue.

I prefer Olivine to Olive (partially as Olivine is a family name for me).

Not a fan of Alice, though I kinda like the repeating sounds in the flow of the names. Maybe Isara, Iris, or Lois Elizabeth?

DramaAlpaca · 05/07/2021 17:09

I love Olive Elizabeth.

Alice Elizabeth is lovely too.

TheVanguardSix · 05/07/2021 17:10

I LOVE Olive Elizabeth. I was just thinking yesterday about how much I love the name Olive.
I was also thinking about how apparently Olivia is overused, overly popular, yada yada but in reality and in my 16 years of 'school gating', I've met so few Olivias... how many via school? Two, actually. It's really not overly used at all, imo.
And I've known one Olive... an elderly patient of DH's whom I absolutely adored. She had such a twinkle in her eye and a lovely smile. She was really 'old school' cool.

eekbumbler · 05/07/2021 17:11

First name thread where I've actually thought it's a lovely name, so it's thumbs up from me. My advice is don't ask - tell. You can't please all of the people all of the time. All the best with her safe arrival whatever her name xx
