Which do you prefer? (Spoiler alert: we LOVE unusual names.) Any nicknames for Bruno or Caspian that spring to mind? Or any other similar names you think we might like? Thanks!

How about Dougal, Brian or Dylan.

Ermintrude for a girl😊

MuttiSauce · 22/06/2021 20:03

Omg... Please don't do this to your child. Or be kind and give some choice with a more second name. You can be classy and unusual. How about Hugo or Alfred for example.

MegaCityOne · 22/06/2021 20:25

If you like Zebedee, what about Balonz?

MadMadMadamMim · 22/06/2021 20:31

Are you having a baby - or naming a pet?

Auxence · 22/06/2021 20:38

My favourite is Bruno. Caspian and Zebedee are brave but with good potential nicknames (Cas and Zeb), and Pip I like but would prefer a full name for it... Pepin or Juniper, maybe?

Jago, Cosmo, Cato, Apollo and Rufus spring to mind.

ChequerBoard · 22/06/2021 20:49

No , this is a joke thread surely?!?

Boing, said Zebedee

Pip, Bruno, Caspian or Zebedee
IamnotwhouthinkIam · 22/06/2021 21:05

Caspian's lovely. I also really like Pip - but I do think of it as a nickname rather than a "proper" name. I find Zebedee too cutesy sounding and really dislike the sound of Bruno, sorry.

Unusual boys names I like include Heath, Fen, Laith, Zev, Orin, Rollo, Evander, Ioan, Emrys, Macsen, Corin, Lev, Maxim, Gaius/Caius, Magnus, Ivo, Soren and Leif.

MarshaBradyo · 22/06/2021 21:08

Bruno

We used it as middle name, really like it

Clickbait · 22/06/2021 21:10

I like Zeb (but not Zebedee). Or how about Jed (similar sounding)?
Caspian (Cas) is nice.
Pip is OK but I think of it as more of a girl's name.
Not keen on Bruno.

THisbackwithavengeance · 22/06/2021 21:18

I like them all.

Zeb is a brilliant name.

As someone said up thread, better than Arthur, Stanley or any of the old men names that people are lumbering their babies with.

Luzina · 22/06/2021 21:19

Bruno

Theoldcuriosityshop · 22/06/2021 21:23

Pip is ok when you're a toddler. Pip when your 6ft 3 is ridiculous. Called him Philip if you must so he can have his full name as an adult, or shortened to Phil.

MarshaBradyo · 22/06/2021 21:24

I really dislike Pip so squeaky ;

MaMelon · 22/06/2021 21:25

I see what you did there @MarshaBradyo - very good! Grin

Powerpuffpoodle · 23/06/2021 10:29

Bruno or Casspian definitely. Both have a good nickname potential.

Zebedee would always get called Zeb which I think would get confused easily with Seb which is pretty common these days.

Pip doesn’t give any nickname potential, all the Pips I know are girls, short for Pippa

Zeb is much cooler and stronger than Seb which always reminds me of sebaceous or oily.

Zeb is much cooler and stronger than Seb How utterly ridiculous can you get?
Squeakerfoot · 23/06/2021 14:00

I like Bruno and Zeb is nice. Like PP I think of Zeb Soanes the newsreader.

Violetlavenders · 23/06/2021 14:03

Why is it ridiculous to find Zeb stronger sounding than Seb?

PurpleyBlue · 23/06/2021 14:06

Bruno is nice or Phillip NN Pip

Posieandpip · 23/06/2021 14:33

Why are so many people acting like OP has chosen literally mental names? Zebedee is biblical, Bruno is an ancient name and the name of a saint, Caspian both and old and a literary name, and Pip just a nickname for Philip. Not all little boys can be called Jack and Oliver! Normally MN is all over old names. Why are these any different? Honestly, these names sojnd a little unusual now but won't be for long. I'd say all are very 'on trend' in style and will grow a great deal in popularity over the next few years.

I don’t get why that post attracted such ire either
RickOShay · 23/06/2021 14:41

I like them all Smile perhaps not so keen on Bruno.
Love Pip. Dd has a friend called Piper who was always Pip. Great name.
