We are expecting baby girl #3 - which will be baby #4 and are super stuck on names! Other kids names: Brighton Amalee, Turner Brandon, Rixley Elizabeth.

I have the name Wilder/Wylder really stuck in my head for her but want to hear feedback on thoughts for using that name for a little girl.

Also really like Clover - my bday is st. Patricks day and she would be lucky #4. But, not sure the name works yet or not?!

Mavis and Saylor are our safer options, but I keep coming back to Wilder/Wylder.

Appreciate any and all feedback!!! We would probably do Marie for middle name or something simple and more feminine. Thanks everyone!!!

Dover Marie?

ISaidDontLickTheBin · 17/06/2021 12:25

I think Wilder works best with your existing DC

LongPauseNoAnswer · 17/06/2021 12:30

But clover is nothing to do with Ireland or St.Patrick’s Day …. Shamrock is what you are thinking about that but that’s even worse than the others ….

LongPauseNoAnswer · 17/06/2021 12:31

And yes I know shamrock is a type of clover but clover is not associated with Ireland

cocoloco987 · 17/06/2021 12:48

Clover has 4 legs - most commonly a cow! I don't think Mavis is nice enough to be due a revival any time soon. I'm not a fan of Wilder but given your other names, and the fact it's unlikely you're in the UK I'd say it's the best option

Classica · 17/06/2021 12:51

I also associate Clover with What Katy Did. Been a million years since I read it and all I can really remember is she was a sweet natured girl with poker straight blonde hair who hated the rigmarole of having it curled.

Purpleavocado · 17/06/2021 12:55

I keep thinking of Clover spread and Mavis Beacon Teaches typing. I also get Gene Wilder for Wiler/Wylder, but I like it the best.

Very diplomatic!
motogogo · 17/06/2021 13:01

If you are in the U.K. those name options just seem really weird, well Elizabeth is lovely, but where on earth did you get Rixley from? Give your child a name that future employers won't file under BIN if they apply. I've worked for a woman in hr who filtered out cvs because of "chavvy names" I'm not saying it's right but it happens.

Pemba · 17/06/2021 13:20

Brighton and Rixley. Wow. Poor girls.

arethereanyleftatall · 17/06/2021 13:27

@motogogo
It's so true, even if it shouldn't be. If you've only the time fo interview one applicant, are you going to interview 'Emma' or 'Chardonnay'?

I'm a swimming teacher and this morning my colleague handed me a list of names, she'd split the class in to two groups, beginners and swimmers. I glanced at my list and walked off to get the armbands ready before she pointed out to me that she hadn't actually told me which group I had. I had been correct.

Crunchymum · 17/06/2021 13:37

Well given you've already gone down the path of "very alternative" names, you can't call her Jane now can you?

I assume Turner is your boy?

Another888 · 17/06/2021 13:38

Mavis is an awesome grandma name and really pretty.

Clover I love too.

I'm not keen on Saylor or Wylder.

MaMelon · 17/06/2021 13:47

Oh how I wish you'd asked MN about your other children's names Grin

Mavis doesn't really go with the other names which are of a theme.

Wilder/Wylder - it would certainly fit with your other names, which is about as much as I can say.

Clover is nothing to do with St Patrick's Day, that's a shamrock. It's what you call a horse or a cow.

Saylor - dear god no.

LittleTiger007 · 17/06/2021 13:55

I much prefer the spelling: Sailor Or Wilder

Pascoe
Shiloh
Piper
Harley

LowryLake · 17/06/2021 18:37

Wilder/Wylder - awful - a big name to live up to.

Clover - it will always be a cow's name to me, but I like the reasons why you've chosen it. Best out of the 4 I'd say.

Mavis - terrible, granny name - what about Maeve? Beautiful, strong name with an interesting history.

Saylor - no, particularly not with this spelling. Skye?

How about something like Cleo, Astrid, Nova, Lyra, Wren, Juno, Zuri, Azalea?

Chunkymenrock · 17/06/2021 18:43

Clover is lovely. The others are certainly not.

AnotherSunrise · 18/06/2021 00:38
**@AnotherSunrise, Clovelly? Is a place in Wales

It's in England.
Soz got mixed up . Wherever it is it's a terrible name!

Ellmau · 18/06/2021 19:31

Clover is charming.

Wylder/Wilder sounds like a boy to me; same with Saylor.

Lalliella · 19/06/2021 00:30

Is this a wind-up?

Labradooodle · 19/06/2021 00:41

@Itsafineday

Clover is a cow's name

Saylor is awful and cheesy.

Mavis is an old sour faced woman.

Wylder ( not Wilder) is ok,I quite like it but not quite to my taste (but looking at your other kids names I doubt we have the same taste! )

It would be boring if we all liked the same things though!

Clover, I like this one. Unusual but not weird. Good balance. No negative connotations.

Saylor - oh. my. God. Are you kidding? I can't believe you're serious. This is awful. Reminds me of a woman in every port, I don't know, seems a bit predatory and/or seedy. Sorry.

Mavis is no worse than Iris in my opinion. I don't like either. maeve is much softer.

Wilder is a boys name.

As a pp says, if we all liked the same names it'd be a boring world.

mammmamia · 19/06/2021 09:25

@Lalliella

Is this a wind-up?
Seeing as the OP hasn’t been back, and this was her only post... most likely
Crankley · 19/06/2021 19:55

Seriously awful. If you like any of them why not change your own name OP?
