Help a sister out! Could you give me feedback or reorder in order of preference. What do you think of the names, do you know any LGs with these names, are they popular, are there any strange associations I should know about etc etc. Basically I'd just be interested to get a mix of feedback and opinions.

Thank you.

Lucy/Lucie- Slightly bias as we just named our daughter Lucy, always loved the name and yes it is quite popular where I live it didn't put me off. Spell it whatever way you prefer but as others said as it's not the typical spelling she may need to correct people but you can say that about so many names.

Out of your others I like Eleanor, lots of variations of nicknames for her when she's older. Sylvia and Rosealind just feel like older lady names and I imagine they will be automatically changed to Sylvie and Rosie on a baby and child and she may not use the longer versions until she is much older

I like them all. Prefer Lucy to Lucie. Rosalind is probably my least favourite as I’m not keen on Roz, which feels like an inevitable nickname.

ILoveShula · 09/04/2023 10:29

I prefer Ros to Rose.

I like The Tale of Mrs Tiggy Winkle by Beatrix Potter.
It features Lucie (modelled off one of the local Vicar's daughter's, Lucie Carr, whom Beatrix Potter knew.

Lucie Beatrix sounds lovely.

100% Sylvia, love it. I like Viva as a nn

stardust40 · 09/04/2023 14:00

Lucie
Eleanor
Rosalind
Sylvia

Dahliasrule · 09/04/2023 14:06

I like them all, except Lucie. What about Lucia with a soft ‘c’. I love it.

Sylvie...Sylvia

Lovely name..

MaitreKarlsson · 09/04/2023 18:19

Sylvia - my favourite

Rosalind - bit old fashioned (ie mediaeval!)

Other 2 - bit average

Thisgirlcan21 · 09/04/2023 22:53

Lucie, Eleanor, Rosalind, Sylvia

I have a Lucie. Many people do assume it’s spelt with a y. I tend to say with an ie when needed.
I felt it was prettier with an ie and not as common. It’s French spelt this way and also traditional- Beatrix potter book.
We have not come across any Lucie’s at school and I was worried it would be common. It clearly isn’t where we live.

In order of preference:

(Lucy, if spelt the most familiar way)
Eleanor
Rosalind
Lucie
Sylvia (still says older lady to me)

DoNutSweatTheSmallStuff · 10/04/2023 23:48

Lucie (but would spell it Lucy)
Eleanor (prefer Ella)
Rosalind (prefer Rosa, not keen on Ros)
Sylvia (prefer Sylvie)

Howmanysleepsnow · 10/04/2023 23:56

In order of preference

Rosalind
Sylvia
Eleanor

Lucie

Lucy and Eleanor are much more commonplace and lose their beauty.
Plus, I dislike the spelling of Lucie.

That said, I prefer the softer Rosalyn to Rosalind, and prefer Sylvie to Sylvia.

This thread was started in May 2021 so I expect the OP made her choice a long time ago.

lucie82 · 06/07/2023 22:48

Well obvs I'm going to say Lucie 🥰

Topazbutterfly · 07/07/2023 17:37

My favourites are Sylvia and Rosalind, I think they're both lovely names. Lucie is nice too, I probably prefer Lucinda, Lucie for short. I'm not keen on Eleanor personally but there's nothing wrong with the name.
