Sylvia, Eleanor, Lucie or Rosalind😀

Help a sister out! Could you give me feedback or reorder in order of preference. What do you think of the names, do you know any LGs with these names, are they popular, are there any strange associations I should know about etc etc. Basically I'd just be interested to get a mix of feedback and opinions.

We have an Eleanor nn Nelly
Lucy was on our list but knew too many already.

Eleanor and Lucie or Lucy are both moderately popular. I think Sylvie is creeping up the ranks but Sylvia less so.

Rosalind is an excellent choice. Rosalind Sylvia would be lovely.

I obviously like Lucie! My name on my birth certificate is Lucy but I changed it when I was 12 so it stood out more

Sylvia - I prefer Sylvie, but either is fine
Eleanor - lovely, but there are an awful lot of Ellies, do you mind that?
Lucie - lovely, and I like this spelling (French, isn't it?)
Rosalind - lovely and my favourite of these 4

Rosalind is one of my very favourite names - elegant, beautiful and strong.

Sylvia feels a bit dated to me.

Lucy/Lucie is pretty but I imagine someone without a very strong personality.

Eleanor is OK but a bit plain.

In order -

Sylvia - I love this, sounds sparkly and reminds me of Sylvia Pankhurst, a great role model. I know one little Sylvia and she's gorgeous, plus a relative of DH, in her 60s - nice, intelligent woman. Still think it's pretty uncommon though.
Lucie - A classic. Reminds me of Narnia. Would have to be spelt Lucy though. Really like it. More popular, I know a handful, different ages.
Eleanor - pretty. I know one who is around 6 and another, bit younger, called Eleanora, which is also lovely. Quite like Nell / Nora as possible nn.
Rosalind - it's ok. I love Rosalie and Rosa. Rose is also classic. Rosalind sounds a little harsh to my ears, and will probably get shortened to Roz. Don't know any.

Good list OP. My order (with pros and cons) would be:

Sylvia - love this. Great associations (Plath/Pankhurst), lovely meaning, ‘silvery’ sound and definitely due a resurgence. Only drawback is I think it’s currently at that tipping point where some people think ‘gorgeous’ and others just think ‘old lady’.

Rosalind - has really grown on me lately. Strong, elegant, Shakespearean, Franklin etc. Downside is the nickname Roz, which seems quite difficult to avoid.

Eleanor - great pedigree with dignified, regal feel. Lots of good namesakes and nicknames (would avoid Ellie and plump for Nell/Leni/Nora). Does somehow seem a bit fusty and buttoned up though - quite a formal, ‘proper-sounding’ image.

Lucie - much prefer Lucy spelling as less fussy. Good all-round classic, pretty, Lucy from Narnia etc. But it’s been popular for a long time and can feel a bit bland/wet/insipid to me. I’d personally go for something stronger-sounding.

Sylvia is on my list for a potential (but unlikely!) second DD so would definitely be my pick.

Sylvia is one of my favourites after a treasured family member. Also like Lucy.

Eleanor and Rosalind not so keen.

Sylvia - and it’s lovely, and not overused

Eleanor is great but SO many of them and other EL names
Rosalind is OK but will get Rosie and so many of them
Lucie is a bit babyish, but anyway better spelt Lucy

My mums friend is called Sylvia, I have always loved the name

For those favouring Sylvie, it's actually considered very frumpy in France (from where it comes!). A bit like naming a baby Edna or something.

That shouldn't necessarily put anyone off, of course. I just found it interesting.

Sylvia and Rosalind are my favourites.

Lucy and Eleanor are nice enough but dull from overuse.

I really like Eleanor but it will probably get shortened to Ellie, which is also lovely!

Just came on to say what excellent taste you have! Lovely names and all actual names, not surnames etc. eg Paige, Brooke. Classic and not frumpy. Slightly unusual too (except Eleanor which has been very popular for about 30 years now, as I'm sure you know, but still a lovely elegant name).

'Lucie is sickly and common' - what utter rubbish. It's just the French spelling that's all, what's wrong with that? The Lucie spelling appears in Dickens (Tale of Two Cities) and Beatrix Potter (Mrs Tiggywinkle, I think). The spelling makes it a bit more unusual and gives the name a slightly different vibe. Somehow in my head a Lucie is blonde, but a Lucy is brunette!
