Middle name for Forest?

mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 21:28

Says it all in the title really.

I have an idea of what I'd like to go for but I want to make sure I've looked at all options before locking a middle name in. I would love to hear some other people's suggestions please.

It's for a little boy :)

Thank you!

@Sylvac

I also know a child called Ferral if you are looking for a wild type name
I bet its the teachers who have a field day with that one not the kids!
RedToothBrush · 16/02/2021 00:26

Im sure Bear, Wolf and Fox will come to the Teddies aid. And beat the shit out of Harry and Oliver. I wouldn't mess with a kid with a scary name.

brownet · 16/02/2021 00:27

I work with teenagers too & they don't bully other people's names. Banter yeah but again they could be surname etc.

You might think you're just being honest but I thought it was unnecessary as I don't think most people associate the name Theodore with shit. Although self awareness is probably not one of your strengths!

LizFlowers · 16/02/2021 00:33

Wittaker.

mushroom3 · 16/02/2021 00:34

Forest Holidays

manicinsomniac · 16/02/2021 00:43

Nobody's going to bully a child for being called Forrest? It's not that unheard of.

I've known children (not plural - just one of each) called Bear, Rainbow, Blue, Summerdaisy, Summertime, Chymme and Tigerlily. I don't think any of them got bullied. People just knew them as their name. I did once meet a woman called Tree and that surprised me. I asked her if she was really Teresa or something but she said no, her parents were just hippies!

I really like it. Love the idea of Forrest Alexander. Also liked Forrest Sebastian. Part of me adored the suggestion Forrest Sunshine but I couldn't bring myself to actually go that far...

Forrest Montgomery
Forrest Nathaniel
Forrest Joachim

@MarthasGinYard

A 'Forest' is a poo
Yep. Forest Gump - dump

OP, it’s your business and no one else’s what you name your child. However, you’d be wise to at least listen to posters on here who point out the negative connotations. I think when he’s young the worst of these might be Forest School as that’s in the mind of infant children weekly and I could imagine him being teased every single week. Then there’s all the other negative stuff. Yes, you’re right, you can pull negative things out of lots of names, but some more than others and this is definitely in the “more than others” category.

I personally would have it as a middle name he can choose to be known by if he loves it, without putting him in the position where he has no choice.

PattyPan · 16/02/2021 00:46

Forest William sounds like a place not a person, especially since it’s so similar to Fort William. Most of these suggestions sound like names of forests Confused

Also fwiw I was born after Forrest Gump came out, have never seen it, and it was still my first thought.

PattyPan · 16/02/2021 00:47

Oh and definitely do not go with Rowan or any other type of tree, that’s way too much!

FortunesFave · 16/02/2021 01:00

@Ltdannygreen

Forest James Forest Grayson Forest axel Forest maxwell Forest Jacob Forest Devon
😂 Forest Axel!

Wtf!

Strokethefurrywall · 16/02/2021 01:01

Urgh, so many posters seem to know utterly shit kids who'd bully others at the drop of a hat.

But frankly, if your kid is a bully then I suspect taking the piss out a name is the least damage they might inflict and judging by this thread, most of the little shits will learn their name calling behavior from their parents 🤷🏽‍♀️

I live in a country where there are so many unusual names I've lost count. Kids don't even think twice about their classmates names, they just accept them as given.

OP Forrest is a great name. I love Forrest James.

MrMucker · 16/02/2021 01:11

@fahlala

Ahh that's a lovely name if you like nature names how about Forest leaves Forest frost Forest air Forest fox Forest dew Forest sounds Forest flowers Forest scents Forest fire Forest fresh Forest ants Or how about Forest porest Forest morest Or Forest nigel
Why stop at Forest Nigel when you can have Forest Boris?
Lizadork · 16/02/2021 01:13

Forest Alexis
Forest Reuben
Forest Ewan
Forest Atticus
Forest Harrison
Forest Reece
Forest Logan

If a fan of Forest - maybe Oakley, Ocean, River, Leif (looks like leaf to me but likely said differently). Elden? Looks like Elder.

Lizadork · 16/02/2021 01:14

Tree .... heard of that too.

DemeterMargs · 16/02/2021 01:32

First of all congratulations on your baby boy!

Forest is a lovely name and I'm surprised at the level of rudeness you've received for merely asking for suggestions on a middle name. I know of 2 couples who have named their boys Forrest - one of which is now at secondary school and hasn't had any bullying related to Gump to him. Maybe he's lucky with the type of children he goes to school with but I think children now are used to such an array of differences that 'unusual' names really aren't that big of a deal anymore. Perhaps some of the commentors are concerned for you because the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree and their children aren't as accepting.

I think Alexander is a lovely middle name suggestion, and I've always had a bit of soft spot for the name Xander.

Hope you and your family keep well and you enjoy your new time together!!

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 16/02/2021 01:34

I absolutely love the name Forrest and, if anything, the film was a reason to choose it. He was a strong character who beat all his odds to live a great life. The film was also released in 1994 so I suspect most of the Class of 2039 will be pretty unaware of the entire connotation. But you guys keep being mean and showing your age right now.....

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 16/02/2021 01:40

I would double rr it though as that's how the name is actually spelled. Hence it's not like Forest Leaves, Forest Trees, etc. It's an entirely different word.

Mockolate · 16/02/2021 01:52

Not read all the thread as it's 14 pages but before opening my initial reaction was Gump too, sorry Blush
Is it for a boy or a girl?
Forest River maybe?

adeleh · 16/02/2021 01:54

Wow there are some mean people on this thread,

SqeakyHindge · 16/02/2021 01:56

Grin Grin

MrMucker · 16/02/2021 01:56

Not sure anybody's being mean.
Just honest reactions to a name.
Each person has names they love and names they think are silly, and it's different for everyone.
Doesn't have to be an exercise in upping yourself because you like it and denegrating those who don't.
Personally I think it's an utterly daft name, but I'm not begrudging people liking it and I get that everyone has their own reasons for naming their child as they wish.

YourWinter · 16/02/2021 02:03

Poor child. Can't you get a pet or teddy bear to give a daft name to?
