Middle name for Forest?

mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 21:28

Says it all in the title really.

I have an idea of what I'd like to go for but I want to make sure I've looked at all options before locking a middle name in. I would love to hear some other people's suggestions please.

It's for a little boy :)

Thank you!

I think I'd go for a fairly classic, 3 or 4 syllable long boy's name with Forest.

Perhaps Alexander, Benjamin, William, Elliot.

Badtasteflump · 15/02/2021 21:41

Ed? As in short for Edward.

mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 21:41

@ArchbishopOfBanterbury that's exactly what I'm thinking too. Thank you x

Ha great minds! Grin @ithinkim @draculahhh @jokenda

Dean was going to be my quip, but I've been beaten to it

Covidcorvid · 15/02/2021 21:42

Whitaker

Badtasteflump · 15/02/2021 21:43

Or if you like tree-ish names, how about Woody instead?

frogswimming · 15/02/2021 21:44

Lol was going to say gump but I see that I have inevitably been beaten to it!

Did someone say fire?

GingerScallop · 15/02/2021 21:46

My first thought was Green

dotdotdotdash · 15/02/2021 21:46

What about Ferris instead?

Notverygrownup · 15/02/2021 21:46

Alexander, Benjamin or William all sound fine as middle names.

It is a difficult name to imagine. Not sure why it stands out more than, for example River, which I really like, however I am sure his classmates would soon adjust and get used to it. (You might like to check whether your local primary school runs Forest School however. Many do these days, taking groups of children off to woodland half a day a week. That would make it harder for people to adjust to as a name for your dc.)

katy1213 · 15/02/2021 21:47

Forest nil?

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 15/02/2021 21:48

Do you remember that forest gump was named after the founder of the ku klux klan?

barkypup · 15/02/2021 21:48

I think Forest is a cool name. Agree the middle name doesn't need to go but something ordinary like james or Joshua.

Also - Forrest Gump was released in 1994. Almost 30 years ago. I wouldn't worry too much about the connection. Forrest Whittaker doesn't make me think 'gump'

onemorenamechange2021 · 15/02/2021 21:49

Some I know has this as a middle name with an unusual first name too. It sounds like a motorway service station. Sorry OP.

inmyslippers · 15/02/2021 21:49

Whitaker

^^ beat me to it!

Bowland?
Green

SnowyBranches · 15/02/2021 21:50

I think Forest James is really nice.
The actor who played Dr McCoy on Star Trek was called DeForest Kelley. Maybe that’s why I don’t find it such a weird name as some here, since I was a teenage Star Trek fan. Also, kids at school are not going to have heard of Forrest Gump.

sallievp · 15/02/2021 21:50

Forrest is a great name. Maybe John, Jack, Johnson

Mumblechum0 · 15/02/2021 21:50

What is it with this fashion for utterly stupid names these days? It seems to be a competition.

Reminds me of Tofu, Hiawatha etc in the Scotland St books.

mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 21:51

@barkypup this is exactly my mindset. Thank you very much haha!
Yeah it's good to see a few people have suggested a name not necessarily having the go as the middle but something long and 'normal' I think will sound really nice.
Thank you! X

I would think most people still know it/have heard of it though. It will be the first thing most people think of when they hear the name - it's fair enough to point it out to the OP - reactions on here will be fairly typical of what the child will get in real life.

The name Forest = Gump.

LadyMcLadyface · 15/02/2021 21:51

Forest James sounds really nice

KittensTeaAndCake · 15/02/2021 21:52

@CheshireCats

Do you not realise Op that this is what your child will have to put up with for his whole life??

No he won't because people in real life are not childish bitches.
Ignore them OP they'd only be happy if you called him James or Nicholas or some other overused name.

partyatthepalace · 15/02/2021 21:52

Canopy...

The only Forest I have met used it as her stripper name, I presume a reference to her lady garden. She was a nice girl, but it’s a trailer park name.

@sallievp THANK YOU! X
