Middle name for Forest?

mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 21:28

Says it all in the title really.

I have an idea of what I'd like to go for but I want to make sure I've looked at all options before locking a middle name in. I would love to hear some other people's suggestions please.

It's for a little boy :)

Thank you!

SoupDragon · 15/02/2021 23:48

truthisalie · 15/02/2021 23:49

MrMucker · 15/02/2021 23:50
@ReggieKrait thank you! We've gone for 1 R because it separates it from the Forrest Gump/ KKK side to things and I also didn't like how it looked like for rest with 2 R's but at least he can say 'like a literal Forest' if he's asked how to spell it haha xx
Because, yeah-keeping the single R really saves it.

fast forward ten years
"Hi, what's your name?"
"Forest"
"One R or two?"
"One"
"Ah, that's ok then-would have taken the piss by alluding to an oddball film character and a far right extremist group otherwise"

Alexander. Star

(Oh, and I used to visit a lot of nursery schools for my job, often in parts of London with a considerable variety of cultural heritages and therefore names. Best I ever saw was Opulence. Child in question was a beautiful chubby - in a healthy baby way - little boy who suited it perfectly 😊. Nowadays I live in a part of London, where - in the white middle class demographic at least - ‘nature’ names are not that uncommon. Still plenty of Blessings and Princes in a different demographic but I haven’t met an Opulence here 😊)

Bracknellite · 15/02/2021 23:52

Biased (huge Beatles fan)
Forest Harrison sounds nice.

MyFavouriteIsWhoeverlsQuietest · 15/02/2021 23:53

Steven

Wyatt
Rowan
Caleb

I know a 7year old Forrest. He is his own person and AFAIK, hasnt had the piss taken out of him.
I like nature names (see username) Smile and it isnt a lot different in style to River, Skye, Oak or Kyle.
Forrest Drew
Forrest Mitchell
Forrest Gabriel

RedToothBrush · 15/02/2021 23:54
@RedToothBrush I secretly love the name Heath, could never get it past my partner though. Some good names you've listed there! I also liked River x
Personally Forrest wouldnt be my first pick for a nature name. I prefer Heath or River. But its not my choice. Lots of cracking good ones out there i love.

Dont be put off by people who think that if you give your child a name which isnt traditional enough for their tastes.

They will get over it. Even the MIL who pulls the sourest face and passes rude comment. (Yes i have the tshirt).

My son's name would probably make most on this thread wince and crack jokes. I dont give a fuck and my son loves his name. Although apparently we have his permission to call him Dave instead if we like too! (Strange child!)

PosyBoo · 15/02/2021 23:54

Gorgeous name OP! But I do have a DD with a very unique nature name so I might be a little bias! I know what you mean though about him just suiting his name, when DD was born she just was her name (we hadn’t seriously considered it till we saw her). Lots of people (including family) told us we couldn’t call her that name and gave lots of reasons why and I’ve actually seen the name discussed on her before with a lot of negative feedback. She’s now 7 and literally none of the things people said children would do/say about her name have ever happened. Children just accept that’s their friends name and that’s that.
I was trying to think of a middle name for Forest and the name that kept coming to me was Forest Otho.

Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy!

Grapesoda7 · 15/02/2021 23:55

Forest James is lovely

Jgdgjbdssvuuuuu · 15/02/2021 23:56

I’m so jealous! It was my top name but didn’t go with my surname.

Cpl of weeks ago me and my Son (who was going to be called Forrest and is now 9) watched Forrest Gump.
Unlike the negative, judgemental people on here, Forrest Gump was the very reason I loved the name!
The character may have a learning difficulty but he is a wonderful example of a human being!
The name Forrest makes me think of bravery, kindness and just all things good.
My Son loved the film and when I told him I wanted to call him Forrest he made absolutely no link to that being a bad thing. It’s adults that feed the kids this gross hatred. He thought it would have been cool to be called Forrest.
Congratulations!!

I love the posher, longer middle names mentioned. I’m completely surprised I liked Forrest Edmond. Never thought I’d like Edmond 🤷🏻‍♀️

TSSDNCOP · 15/02/2021 23:56

I’m on page 1 and Fire nearly killed me. Just tell me, Does she change her mind or do we have 12 more pages? I may need oxygen.

augustusglupe · 15/02/2021 23:56

You can dress it up however you want, the fact is the poor kid will forever have the piss taken out of him.
Of all the names Hmm

RedToothBrush · 15/02/2021 23:58

Better a different name than Harry A, Harry B or Harry C or Oliver S, Oliver T or Oliver W cos the parents are so bloody desperate for their child to match the wallpaper and disappear.

SquirtleSquad · 15/02/2021 23:59

@CherryBlossomTree7

To the posters saying how horrendous it is and how he'll have to put up with nasty comments, probably not as I'm sure he and his mum will not surround himself with rude and boring people. I very much doubt that you would be so rude in real life either. I'm sure your own names are so wonderfully lovely.

I love the name OP. A very strong name. I think Alexander sounds beautiful as a middle name. What about a family name? Your partner's name or a masculine version of your name?

Other ideas:
Forest Leonard
Forest Isaac
Forest Albert
Forest Theodore
Forest Harrison

You don't get to pick who you surround your child with at school, and kids can be really fucking mean.

I don't hate it as a middle name. Alexander Forest isn't so bad.

brownet · 16/02/2021 00:00

Is this a conversation amongst adults?kids don't tend to talk like that. Is it normal for adults to get introduced to each other & take the piss out of someone's name? Every place I've worked at I've met someone with a name that's new to me. Latest one was Wim.

TSSDNCOP · 16/02/2021 00:00

True there are many Oliver’s, but with Forest will she be able to tell the wood from the trees?

KittensTeaAndCake · 16/02/2021 00:02

Forrest William (2 ‘r’s) is a traditional name in the family going back generations

No no it can't be, because the MN posse have decided it's not a real name WinkGrin

(Love Forrest William by the way)

Andrea87 · 16/02/2021 00:02

Also think about the initials that they don’t stand for anything abbreviated and rude.
