Middle name for Forest?

mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 21:28

Says it all in the title really.

I have an idea of what I'd like to go for but I want to make sure I've looked at all options before locking a middle name in. I would love to hear some other people's suggestions please.

It's for a little boy :)

Thank you!

I like Forest Finlay too - I am leaning towards the FF sounds.

Forest Felix
Forest Frederick
Forest Finn
Forest Fionn

Staffy1 · 15/02/2021 23:35

Definitely something normal as he can use it instead if Forest results in too much teasing.

Octane · 15/02/2021 23:35

Agreed with everything RedToothBrush just said.

mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 23:35

@RedToothBrush thank you so much for taking the time to comment it's really appreciated! X

I think we know from this thread who the childhood bullies were, don't we?

I doubt they would say boo to a ghost in real life.

Lifeohlife88 · 15/02/2021 23:36

Op I think Forest is lovely. It's irrelevant what anyone else thinks of it though, it's your choice!! Don't be put off by some negative comments on here. Middle names:
Forest James
Forest Jude
Forest Christopher
Forest Karl

Forest Theodore is a good shout to whoever suggested upthread.

Very popular classic middle name atm.

It’s relevant what the poor child called Forest thinks about his name though. Poor kid.
Lifeohlife88 · 15/02/2021 23:38

Some really childish responses here. If you don't agree with the name choice and don't have a nice comment to make, scroll on by. Op didn't come on here to be ripped to shreds, she came for advice.

FamilyOfAliens · 15/02/2021 23:38
@FamilyOfAliens depends what you mean by cool kids I guess..? They're 6, 5 and 6 months .. how cool can you be at that age? Why would "coolness" even be a thing? They're both likable boys and the baby is a very likable baby.. as most children and babies are. I doubt their name matters much in what their personality is like. I named my own son James.. the most boring traditional name out there and I think he's a cool kid Hmm
I was being sarcastic.

On these threads you always get someone coming on saying they know several kids with the proposed name and commenting on how cool those children are.

As if somehow that will protect the child who’s the subject of the thread from being teased for most of their childhood.

@RedToothBrush

Forest's peers wont blink at his name. Trust me. The bitchy comments will come from adults your age or older.

Its actually an on trend name. It fits in with a lot of the nature names of this new generation of the last decade or so.

I think the trick is to have a normal 'classic' as a fall back. If he hates Forest he can switch to using a second name. So play safe.

Honestly ignore the comments here. Its a nice name and people will get used to it very quickly. Few will have the balls to say it to you face in practice and his peers wobt know who the fuck Forest Gump is seeing as its a film made in 1994 - 26 years ago.

Can you reference many films made 26 years before you were born? Do they make a striking impact on your life.

Honestly ive heard some terrible names on this section. Forest is not up there by any stretch of the imagination.

I can reference a few from 26 years before I was born, my kids however can reference films made 30, 40 years before they were born because films are far more accessible these days than they were when I was growing up.
Lifeohlife88 · 15/02/2021 23:40

@Lalliella that's your opinion though.

I wouldn't choose Forest for my son but it's not my decision in this case. Op wasn't asking if people liked Forest, she was asking for middle name ideas.

Babyroobs · 15/02/2021 23:40

@Octane

I like Forest James
I agree Forest James is lovely.
mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 23:41

@Lifeohlife88 when I see posts on here regarding names I don't like, I never think to comment ripping it to bits so I don't really know why people think to do that, especially when it hasn't even been asked for by the poster.

Like you said, just wanted to see what people thought for middle names ideas really.

I appreciate the really helpful and supportive comments though. Some people have been lovely x

@walchesterweasel 😆

AliceMcK · 15/02/2021 23:43

Forest Whitaker’s middle name is Steven. I like Walter, it’s old fashioned but sounds nice with Forest. I think a lot of old names would go nicely

RedToothBrush · 15/02/2021 23:44

My son is 6.

He's met a Tyson, an Ophelia (now she will get shit off as a teenager about balls), and a Lennox to name but a few of the stranger names I've come across.

In a school field of Lilys, Poppys, Daisys, Iris, Roses and Violet do you really think Forest, Heath, River or Hunter are out of place?

BiBabbles · 15/02/2021 23:44

I think it's a nice name. I didn't really think of Gump until the comments.

Alongside the previous suggestions (going with longer classic names and trying to avoid names that could sound like other nouns cause Forest Lovel came to mind but is likely a bit much):
Forest Jonathan
Forest Emmerich
Forest Edmund

...I think the E sounds in those and a few other similar names sound nice with Forest, but then I realized that wouldn't work initial-wise with certain surnames (FEK is probably not the best idea, though I do know a FRAG who loves his initials).

Forrestwilliam · 15/02/2021 23:44

Name-changed because anyone on my dad’s side of the family would recognise it instantly, but Forrest William (2 ‘r’s) is a traditional name in the family going back generations (no idea how or why it started). They all go by their second names so they’d be called Bill, Will etc in everyday life. Irish heritage.

RedToothBrush · 15/02/2021 23:46

Or Robin or Wren.

Massively on trend...

mamah2019 · 15/02/2021 23:46

@RedToothBrush I secretly love the name Heath, could never get it past my partner though. Some good names you've listed there! I also liked River x

Forest Theodore is a good shout to whoever suggested upthread.

Very popular classic middle name atm.

Honestly it isnt

Teddy is the dimunitive of Theodore.

Bears (Thoedore) shit in the wood (Forest).

You risk the child being called Bear shit as a nickname throughout his teenage year.
