To name Harry??

So me & my ex husband have a son together (he's 9), he has 2 other children (late teens/ early twenties). Me & my partner have a son together & another baby on the way. We don't know the sex of the baby yet but we've started to think about names. We had trouble naming our son as we couldn't agree, the only name we can now both agree on for this one is Harry but my ex husbands eldest is called Harry so technically mine & my ex husband son together already has a brother called Harry, would it be wrong for us to name ours (if its a boy obviously) Harry so my eldest has 2 brothers, well half brothers called Harry?

Yes, that would be very strange, and would undoubtably be upsetting for your step son. Don’t do it.

BlueTimes · 30/01/2021 23:01

Yes. It would be wrong. Plenty of nice names out there. Use one of them.

daisypond · 30/01/2021 23:04

You can’t call him Harry.

Marrilou · 30/01/2021 23:13

I don't think it's appropriate for your husband to have two children with the same name. What about Henry instead?

Crimblecrumble1990 · 30/01/2021 23:13

So your son with your husband would have two brothers called Harry?...

Directionerforever · 30/01/2021 23:14

Never mind two brothers with the same name, I couldn’t be with a man so devoid of original thought that he just calls all his kids the same thing 😂

daisypond · 30/01/2021 23:15

Her husband will only have one child called Harry. Her ex-husband has a child called Harry.

The children don't have the same father...
Angel2702 · 30/01/2021 23:18

I wouldn’t do it, there must be another name you can come up with.

Crimblecrumble1990 · 30/01/2021 23:18

Sorry meant ex husband in previous post

Blackcountrychik · 30/01/2021 23:18

My ex had a brother called John and he was called Jonn , he tried telling me he’s was Pronounced like (french sounding) Jean 😂 so his Dad had two children both called John !
🤷🏼

londonmummy1234 · 30/01/2021 23:34

Ummm no.

ItsAHardKn0ckLife1 · 30/01/2021 23:37

I don’t see it as an issue OP

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 30/01/2021 23:37

Yes, having two brothers (or half brothers) both called Harry would be very odd for your son imo, so I wouldn't do it

Names similar to Harry for me are Charlie, Toby, Rory, Jack, Max, Theo, Ben(jamin), Alex(ander), Sam(uel), Zach(ary), Jacob (Jake), Edward (Eddie), John (Johnny), Robert (Robbie), James (Jamie), Thomas (Tommy), Joseph (Joey) if that helps?

Coffeeandaride · 30/01/2021 23:44

I think you should think of a new name

LittleRa · 30/01/2021 23:48

I think a few people are misunderstanding the situation (it is a bit complicated).

The two Harrys would not share any of the same parents.

LouiseTrees · 30/01/2021 23:52

I understand the situation but I think your common kids would then have two half brothers called Harry and that’s just confusing as hell. Why do you like Harry and we’ll try and suggest alternatives?

Popcorn24 · 30/01/2021 23:58

For the people confused, my ex husband has a boy called Harry, (our son together doesn't see Harry much as he lives away & has a family of his own, works etc) & my partner has his heart set on Harry if ours is a boy, my ex is not having 2 kids called Harry, 2 totally different fathers!!! We already have an Oliver (ex husbands) & a Toby (with my partner) & my partner surname is very very tricky to put a name with, this is part of the reason naming our son together (Toby) was so hard. I love Charlie or Finley (Finn) but it just won't go with my partners surname, to many L's.
I really don't think my eldest would be bothered if he had 2 brothers called Harry, knowing him he'd find it funny, it certainly wouldn't upset him & can't see it causing much confusion as he doesn't see my ex husbands one from 1 month to the next.
Oh well fingers crossed we have a girl this time 🤦‍♀️

Please tell me he had only one other sister, a middle child, called Val

Why can’t you go with Finn as a name rather than the long form Finley if it’s just the Ls are the issue. Also Henry instead or Harry.
Popcorn24 · 31/01/2021 00:07

@louiseTrees
My other halfs surname is Lee.... if baby was called Finn & when he's older says his full name Finn Lee it would sound like Finley so people would just end up asking what his surname is all the time!

Oh sorry OP I totally misread!

Still. I probably wouldn’t go with Harry.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 31/01/2021 00:13

Your baby and as long as your son is ok with it ,do what you want.
Your ex may think its a bit strange though , but if you don't care what he thinks either , then problem solved
Can see why a ly/ lie ending is tricky
