Albie or Arlo ?

What do we think of Albie or Arlo?

Personally loving them, my only issue is I can picture a baby, young child and older man with the name... but not a teenager or young adult!

I do love the names but I’m worried will he suit it when he’s a teenager / young adult?

Anyone else loved names like these and named their child it without worry!

What about Albert?

DramaAlpaca · 31/12/2020 20:04

I'm not keen on either but of the two, Arlo.

covidaintacrime · 31/12/2020 20:04

I prefer Arlo, it sounds more "protagonist" if that makes sense.

reefedsail · 31/12/2020 20:08

Albie is not the name of anybody over 4 years old. If you want that as a nn use Albert.

I prefer Arlo.

Summerstorms · 31/12/2020 20:08

I really love Arlo

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/12/2020 20:09

Arlo from those two.
Albie is terrible.

HappyNYEvery1 · 31/12/2020 20:11

Arlo is our favourite of the two to be honest! DH does like it but did mention the “will he suit it when” thought in my head

I'm not keen on either - they are very trendy/will date. But of the two, I agree with pp that Arlo is more useable (or Albert, nn Albie).

covidaintacrime · 31/12/2020 20:13

I think Marlo is also quite cool as a similar name? (though prepared to be slated for that Grin)

KaptainKaveman · 31/12/2020 20:13

Very pretentious. Albert or Armand are much better.

snowone · 31/12/2020 20:14

Arlo

FippertyGibbett · 31/12/2020 20:15

With Albie it always reminds me of albino.
Prefer Arlo.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/12/2020 20:17

If you like -o ending names then classic Leo, modern Theo or unusual Ivo are more useable/ slightly less trendy than Arlo imo. Or if you like ie/y ending names then Harry/Henry or Toby shouldn't date as badly as Albie.

bitheby · 31/12/2020 20:23

Arlo is going to be huge apparently. Heard that on woman's hour so must be true. I've loved it for years.

Caspianberg · 31/12/2020 20:24

Alvin nn Alvie

PepsiArcade · 31/12/2020 20:27

Albie just doesn’t sound like a proper name to me and I’m not usually bothered about long names on the bc.

RelightMyPfizer · 31/12/2020 20:29

Albie isnt a name. will probably get called Aldi at school.

Arlo- are you big Pokemon go fans?

showgirl63 · 31/12/2020 20:48

I work with a lovely, mid 40s man called Albie so I don't dislike the name at all, but people often seem to struggle spelling it (Aline) which drives our comms. System into a flap

showgirl63 · 31/12/2020 20:48

misspelt as Ailbe

pepperpod28 · 31/12/2020 20:52

They both sound like dogs names to me (sorry) but Albie is the name of a character in flight of the concords. And that character is a dragon. A racist dragon. With a theme song that goes "albiiie the racist draagonn". Appreciate it is a niche reference but....don't pick that one.

RuthW · 31/12/2020 21:14

Arlo

Albie is half a name unless you go
for Albert

daisypond · 31/12/2020 21:46

Not Albie. It’s terrible for anyone more than age five. Albert is fine.
Arlo is very faddy. Theo or Leo are better.

Twelve8Ts · 31/12/2020 21:51

It’s Albie for me! I have a nephew called Albie and it’s such a friendly, sweet, inoffensive name.
Yes it can be a shortened version. Just like Alfie, Archie, Freddie...don’t really see the issue with that.

DansMaPoche · 31/12/2020 22:07

Arlo.

Albie is awful.

I thought Albi the racist dragon too, don’t do it op. It may be niche but that’s two of us on this thread already 😆
