Guessing game V!

Merry twixmas! Xmas Grin

We have reached thread 5(!) of the baby names Guessing Game.

This was the (brilliant) brain child of @scotstar back in March 2018. Smile

All are welcome, rules of this game are pretty straightforward - someone describes a name. Whoever solves the clues is then in charge of describing the next name. Simple! Make the clues as fiendish or straightforward as you like. Grin

Ooh, Niall?

OP posts:
DuggeeHugs · 30/03/2022 21:59

I like your thinking, but not Niall.

Would you like another clue?

Ellmau · 30/03/2022 23:14

We need one!

finallychangedmyusername · 31/03/2022 22:58

Agree with @Ellmau, this is a toughy! Another clue would be greatly appreciated @DuggeeHugs.

OP posts:
DuggeeHugs · 04/04/2022 17:02

Oh no, I wasn't trying to be that cryptic, sorry 😞

His uncle was the famous one originally, but with his brothers they found a new generation of fans.

finallychangedmyusername · 07/04/2022 21:38

Ooh, Dewey?

OP posts:
DuggeeHugs · 08/04/2022 01:44

You've got it @finallychangedmyusername Smile

Dewey - Welsh name, 'impeccably organised' thinking of the library numbering system which led to the Great Library of Alexandria. Triple with Hewey and Lewey (sp?), nephews of Donald - river dwellers referencing ducks and Donald's boat.

finallychangedmyusername · 08/04/2022 17:28

I was watching Duck Tales with the DC, when inspiration hit! Grin

Here's another for you all:

A permissible donation for a transatlantic-accented actor, former US president and artist of a father and daughter.

OP posts:
DuggeeHugs · 10/04/2022 12:53

Between the library and Duck Tales I strongly suspect that's where I thought up the name, too!

Hmm, I'm thinking Michael but can't make the president connection work

finallychangedmyusername · 10/04/2022 12:56

Not Michael. The father and daughter are often mistaken for husband and wife.

OP posts:
Percie · 10/04/2022 16:59

Lucian? Again I can't find the presidential connection, though

finallychangedmyusername · 10/04/2022 18:21

Not Lucian, sorry. "Permissible" and "donation" are two clues.

OP posts:
Ellmau · 10/04/2022 19:06

Constantine?

finallychangedmyusername · 10/04/2022 22:05

Not Constantine.

Irish novelist James Joyce provides another naming clue that links to the aforementioned US president.

OP posts:
DuggeeHugs · 11/04/2022 07:56

Ulysses?

finallychangedmyusername · 11/04/2022 20:57

Ulysses is the link name that will (hopefully!) get you to the final name.

OP posts:
Ellmau · 11/04/2022 23:11

Grant?

finallychangedmyusername · 12/04/2022 19:18

Correct, @Ellmau! Grant it is. Grin

Permissible = granted
A donation = a grant
Transatlantic-accented actor is Cary Grant
Former US president is Ulysses Grant (Ulysses being a James Joyce novel)
Artist of a father and daughter, often mistaken for a husband and wife is American Gothic painted by Grant Wood.

OP posts:
Ellmau · 12/04/2022 19:38

New name:

He carried a god and discovered a new world.

finallychangedmyusername · 16/04/2022 21:00

Hades?!

OP posts:
Ellmau · 23/04/2022 22:00

It's not a very exciting name nowadays - a classic but possibly dated.

finallychangedmyusername · 26/04/2022 20:40

Christopher?

OP posts:
Ellmau · 26/04/2022 23:39

Yes. Not too hard, I thought, but it's take a while :)

finallychangedmyusername · 27/04/2022 18:11

I do like the name Christopher. 😍

I'm just mad about this next fabulous and spicy name.

OP posts:
Ellmau · 27/04/2022 18:59

Saffron?
