Do you prefer my or husband's favourite name ?

DH asked me to post this thread lol , because we cannot decide and he is so sure his favs are just of better taste. We don't know the sex yet. He likes the names I like , and I like his. But "my" names just seem more beautiful. PLEASE DECIDE FOR US :

Levi or Daniel
Harper or Mary

None of the new boys names are nicer than Daniel imo. Girls I adore Hannah and Leah - even nicer than Mary (which would have otherwise been my pick from the two options).

Here they are in my preference order:

Levi - cool, biblical and, since you love it, top!

Daniel - nice, classic, Dan's a great nn, inoffensive.

Austin - cool, unusual in a good way (like Levi)

Tristan - nice, bit posher and more twee than the others

Matthew - boring but nice enough

Manny - gosh, quite different. Good nn if he suits it but I'd want a 'proper' name, like Malachi (you seem to like biblical. I secretly love this name)

Zoe - such a lovely name

Hannah - lovely, bit too popular among the 30s-40s (parents of young DC) at the moment, so feels over-used.

Mary - nice, simple, classic. Maybe 'so ordinary (but actually barely used) its cool', like John is now.

Leah - ok, goes with your old testament theme. I always think leer, which isn't so nice.

Harper - celeb fashion name

Cadence - are you joking?

I prefer Matthew over Daniel. I don't like any of the new girl names.

From your second selection I like Tristan and Matthew and Zoe.

Leah is ok too. I don’t like the others and I really dislike Levi and Cadence.

Matthew classic, easy to shorten for a child, longer version is OK-ish for an adult.

Hannah classic, works in may languages, no annoying shortenings
Leah Hmmm, I think you'll have a lot of people pronouncing it as "Lee" when it should be "Lee-ah"
Cadence Whaaaa? you're considering naming a child after a way of describing the rhythm and flow of a line of poetry and/or a person's (or a horse's) stride?

Levi and Harper for me, although neither are my favourite tbh!

Daniel is very plain and I'm sorry to say Mary is probably one of my least favourite names of all time I just think it's awful.

Levi is an anagram of evil.
Harper reminds me of 'harpy' a name often synonymous with a prostitute in the 18th century.

Manny- Hideous! Means male nanny (or bossy, in my corner of England).

Zoe- Not a huge fan, but a nice meaning and unobjectionable
Hannah- OK. Reads the same both ways, which is something.
Leah- Quite like it. Would you be pronouncing it Lee-ah or Lee?
Cadence- I really like this. Cadie for short.
