Love them both
Both likely to get shortened so I would think about the short versions and if you like them?

DramaAlpaca · 04/11/2020 22:40

Edward, because I like the full name and the diminutives.

I like Joseph a lot, but not so much Joe or Joey. Joseph is therefore middle name territory only for me and I used it for one of my boys.

Mybobowler · 04/11/2020 22:42

Joseph! I love the name Joe - it's a good, honest-sounding name - and also because it seems like every other baby boy I know is an Edward/Eddie/Ted/Teddy

Toontown · 04/11/2020 22:42

I don't like Edward as always sounds like Edwad. But do like Ed and Eddie.

Love Joseph and Joe. Solid name for all ages.

MonkeyPuddle · 04/11/2020 22:43

Joseph. I have one.

peakygal · 04/11/2020 22:44

Both. I have a relative of that exact name 😌

Mammyloveswine · 04/11/2020 22:44

Joseph was my boys name until a close relative named their child it!

I think it's a beautiful name!

I do like Edward too!

Firebird83 · 05/11/2020 08:58

Joseph as there are loads of Edwards shortened to Ted/Teddy

NoMoreFlowers · 05/11/2020 09:01

I like them both. For me, Edward has the edge

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/11/2020 09:02

I know someone who had one as his first name and the other as his middle name. Lovely names individually and as a combo.

Takethewinefromtheswine · 05/11/2020 09:03

Joseph. I like Edward but really don't like Teddy, so would be put off in case that ended up being used.

SocialBees · 05/11/2020 09:11

Edward, I just prefer it.

Flymetothestars · 05/11/2020 09:27

Love both choices. Sorry can't pick

Katgolde · 05/11/2020 09:36

I prefer Joseph. I'd pronounce it Jo-ziff and am not keen on Joce-iff or Jo-zuf.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 05/11/2020 09:40

Joseph sounds more vibrant than Edward which sounds a bit more dull.

polkadotjimjams · 05/11/2020 12:28

Appreciate your feedback so far, I am stuck between the two and I love both

Both are really nice. I would choose Joseph because I know a lot of young boys named Edward/Teddy. Joey is nice for a little boy and then Joe is nice when he’s older.

Motherofthreequeens · 05/11/2020 12:35

Oh I love them both.

I know an Edward who is 8 and gets called Eddie. Always has his school shirt buttoned up wrong, dirty hands and knees, massive mop of blond hair and lovely blue eyes. He’s lovely.

Joseph was my grandads brother who was a very solid dependable man who owned a farm. - ‘Our Joe’ Grin

Ginisatonic · 05/11/2020 12:41

Love both.

Milkshake7489 · 05/11/2020 12:51

I love them both!

Edward is my favourite because I prefer the associatednicknames, but only just.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 05/11/2020 13:04

I think 'Teddy' as a nickname has become a bit downmarket in recent years but 'Ed' holds its own.

Diminutives of shortlisted names are to be considered, I would advise. We really loved the name David (I am not sure why it's quite fallen from fashion) but didn't like the thought of DS being called 'Dave' so ditched it.

polkadotjimjams · 05/11/2020 18:46

We aren't keen on Teddy either. But love Edward and the other nicknames.

All helpful, thank you.

Hoping to get some more responses 🤞🏼

I love both but if I was choosing between the two I'd go for Edward because I only know 1 Edward and I know loads of Jospeh's.

ILoveAnOwl · 05/11/2020 21:25

Joseph. Was always top of my boy list!
