Which do you prefer?

Kane choice inspired by Citizen Kane and the cool Harry Kane.

Dale.

lousywithvirginity · 02/11/2020 19:27

Kane

Hiccupiscal · 02/11/2020 19:27

Kane

Zofloratheexplora · 02/11/2020 19:37

Dale

Chamberlai · 02/11/2020 19:38

Neither.

CosyQueen · 02/11/2020 19:40

Bit chavy ...

Soulstirring · 02/11/2020 19:41

Dale

reefedsail · 02/11/2020 19:41

Not keen on either, but do like Dane.

lockdownbreakdown · 02/11/2020 19:41

No little boy has been given either of these names since the 1980's in the UK so neither as they weren't great the first time around. Back to the drawing board OP! It's like asking Kelly or Michelle for a baby girl!

Well that’s not true because I know
One of each and they are in their twenties.

EhUp · 02/11/2020 19:45

I'm really not keen on either sorry

Dale sounds dated and bland
Kane is just a bit naff

Youngatheart00 · 02/11/2020 19:46

Really don’t like either, sorry!

MrsSpringfield · 02/11/2020 19:46

Are there any others you like?
Both of these sound a bit dated / negative connotations.. to my ears anyway.

Janleverton · 02/11/2020 19:49

I don’t like either but if HAD to choose, would say Kane.

Orson?
Citizen Kane connection.

lockedownloretta · 02/11/2020 19:50

i know a 7 year old kane

they do both sound like boys who wear black head to toe northface and hang around outside the chippy on their bmx bikes.

FridaBarfloh · 02/11/2020 19:51

Although I wouldn't personally use either Kane or Dale I prefer both to a lot of new hip 'n' hapnin trendy boy names (used by both the middle and working class).

People tend to have an aversion to dated names and are scared to touch then until someone (generally famous) makes them cool again.

Slightly prefer Kane.
Orson is nice too.

I know two Kanes aged 15 and 16... Hmm

Kane is nicer than Dale for sure. Though I prefer Cain.

Magicbabywaves · 02/11/2020 19:52

Ummm, Dale. But not keen on either.

Wolfiefan · 02/11/2020 19:53

Neither.

SwedishEdith · 02/11/2020 19:53

@reefedsail

Not keen on either, but do like Dane.
Or Kale.
whattodo2019 · 02/11/2020 19:53

seriously??? They are both hideous,I am so sorry....

FridaBarfloh · 02/11/2020 19:55

Kane and Dale are no better or worse than Bodhi or Rufus.

Toilenstripes · 02/11/2020 19:58

Neither, but Leland is a great name.

badg3r · 02/11/2020 20:44

Both are fine. I prefer dale because I know a really nice one and also because of the biblical connection to Cane who did away with his brother... not a good look for potential siblings 😬 I appreciate that I am probably in the minority with this rather tangential train of thought though!
One of my kids has a name that gets as slated for similar reasons as your choices here on mumsnet. I really like the name and he so does my kid, and we have loads of nice comments on it. Good to have different and honest opinions but don't let them put you off if you have your heart set on one.

Do you have a third choice?
