Do you know anyone with my potential baby name

Hello,
Esme is the frontrunner for our baby's name.
But I'm a bit confused as to whether it's popular or not. It's currently mid forties on the charts but when I've spoken to people they say that they know of quite a few.
Could be regional thing?

It would be great if you could let me know if you know any (and their ages) and also if you don't know any at all!

Thanks

I know one in her 20's! South East

17caterpillars1mouse · 28/10/2020 08:29

There is only one Esme in my daughters school year (around 60 children). She is 4. I also know a 6/7 year old Esme but that is it. I hear it quite often out and about but not as much as name's like Emily and Tilly / Matilda

It's OK, not a favourite of mine but nice enough

I’m a primary school teacher of 11 years and have only ever come across one Esme if that helps, she would be around 8 now I think x

BigBigPumpkin · 28/10/2020 12:25

I know two both under a year old.

MimiDaisy11 · 28/10/2020 12:28

I'm in Scotland and don't know any. I like the name.

floofycroissant · 28/10/2020 12:45

Yes, 2 in NW

jasminetealeaves · 28/10/2020 21:15

I wonder how it's mostly commonly pronounced these days. I know 2 and they both are Es-me

Quizeerascal · 28/10/2020 21:22

I know of one, she must be in her early 20s now and lives in the South East (or at least thats where her family are based). I met one a few years ago who would be in her mid 40s I think now. I work with children (in London) but haven't met any little Esmes.

Mamascoven · 28/10/2020 21:24

3 of my old school friends have named their daughters it. Its really popular where I am.

Georgieporgie29 · 29/10/2020 15:34

I know 3, ages 9, 7 and 6 I’m in the North West.

LittleTiger007 · 29/10/2020 16:04

I live in east Anglia, there are a lot of Esmes, but it’s a nice name so go for it if you like it.

emwithme · 29/10/2020 16:58

One who must be in her 80s now in Midlands.

There were four at the toddler group I went to with DD pre-Covid, ranging from brand new baby to about to start school. South West.

SuitedandBooted · 29/10/2020 20:35

I know 6.
Two adults in their 50-60's, and an assortment of children aged 1 to 17. Hampshire. Ez-mee

You are right that's it in the mid forties on the name chart, but it has increased greatly in popularity over the last 20 odd years, so you will find a lot of children with the name. (135 in 1996, up to 1138 last year). It's a name that's on an upward curve.

It's a lovely name though, but she won't be the only one in her year group at school!

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 29/10/2020 20:35

I know 1. Aged 4. South West.

Indoctro · 29/10/2020 20:37

Age 8, South Wales.

Newpuppymummy · 29/10/2020 20:43

Quite popular I’d say. Think I’ve met about 5-10 in recent years

Britannah · 29/10/2020 20:48

I know 1 under 1 from SE x

JollyGiraffe12 · 29/10/2020 20:51

Can’t stand the name hate both pronunciations. Know a particularly awful Esme - I nickname her Esme-me-me in my head.

dalrympy · 29/10/2020 20:51

4 ranging from 3 to 19

Meepmeeep · 29/10/2020 20:53

2 in Scotland, one is 3 and the other a teenager.

Runforwine · 29/10/2020 20:55

I'm in Fife and know 6, 3 under 10, two teens and one 82 year old. They're all lovely, as is the name. I think it's very delicate and feminine.

DoTheMaccaroni · 29/10/2020 21:47

I know of at least 3

GoingBackTo505 · 29/10/2020 21:54
