We’re completely stuck here. These are the names we like and our reservations -

Otto - think it might be too popular and a bit too ‘trying to be different but actually being the same’
Otis - I see it suggested a lot on these threads and I think it’s about to become very popular
Jude - I know several toddler Judes so think that has put me off
Remy - not sure if it sounds a bit soft for a grown man or like a nickname..?
Rudy - again not sure if it’s a child/young man’s name and will sound a bit silly as an older man?

Any feedback on these names would be great. And if you can think of any similar names that we might like?! Otherwise he’ll be nameless at this rate

Jeremy nn Remy?

(Disclaimer: I'm sick and possibly delirious...)

Redwinestillfine · 22/10/2020 21:50

I like Remy. What about Idris?

Chocolatecake12 · 22/10/2020 21:54

I’m not keen on any of your names but that’s only my personal taste.
You seem to favour 4 letter names. Would you consider a longer name such as
Alexander with nn Alex?
Or just a short name in its own right?
Joel
Saul
Ben
Max
Seth
Theo
Zach
Felix
Kyle
Victor
Toby
Hugo
Caleb
Thomas
Nico
Whatever you decide ,and it’s such a tough decision - good luck!

Mumtumwobble · 22/10/2020 21:56

Remy just makes me instantly think of Remy Martin cognac. Sorry.

micc · 22/10/2020 21:57

My favourite is Otis!
It is more popular now but it's not like Oliver. He will probably be the only one in his class, different but now more well known.

VioletSunset · 22/10/2020 21:59

Sonny

Kanaloa · 22/10/2020 21:59

All fine names, although Remy and Rudy aren’t my taste. For what it’s worth, I don’t think Otis is going to become really popular. I’ve never met one personally or heard of one.

Waterdropsdown · 22/10/2020 21:59

Remy not soft for grown man. I can think of 3 French men at my work place over the past few years all of which were +40 and didn’t seem like an out of place name. Think it is usually spelt Remi but maybe that’s the French way.

Acerred · 22/10/2020 22:00

Otis are the company who make lifts aren't they?

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 22/10/2020 22:03

Saul
Remo
Jake
Arlo
Axel
Cole
Neo
Mika

Out of yours Otis is my favourite.

MoiJeJous · 22/10/2020 22:05

Remy but I would spell it as “Remi”... I think that makes it a bit more “masculine”

EwwSprouts · 22/10/2020 22:06

I only know a female Remi.
Rudy just makes me think of Trump's mate and sleaze Guiliani.

Agree with PP on Joel as not so try hard and not common.

purringpaws · 22/10/2020 22:07

I like Otis but sounds like a pet name unfortunately. Or wasn't there an aardvark called Otis on kids television?

Depends on your age group I guess. I might be very old!

I like Joel !

BabyItsAWildWorld · 22/10/2020 22:07

I love Otto from your list.

Not keen on the others.

How about Jem?
Or Gus.
Or Gregor

DeRigueurMortis · 22/10/2020 22:09

Sorry OP but I don't like any of them.

They all sound a bit "trying hard to be special" and I think they will date badly.

I'd be going for something more classic like Albert (Bertie) or Ivo (Yew/archer - Germanic medieval origin).

clpsmum · 22/10/2020 22:12

Definitely without a doubt Otto! If I had my time again I would have an Otto!

VirginiaWolverine · 22/10/2020 22:12

I like Otto best, and then Remy.

I'd also suggest Orson and Silas.

Catwoman1985 · 22/10/2020 22:15

Rudy is a family name for us (as in a name in the family, not a surname) so I think I'd go with that

daiseeedaiseee · 22/10/2020 22:16

Otto is so nice Smile

Jollypostman1991 · 22/10/2020 22:22

Thanks for all this. Have added Idris to the list. Orson is also on our list but I feel like it’s a bit too ‘out there’ so didn’t include it. I like the suggestion of Jeremy with the nn Remy, but we know an awful grown up Jeremy so I just couldn’t do it Confused. And interesting that Joel is getting so much love, but it just makes me think of a really cheesy Australian sitcom character. So funny how wildly people vary in taste!

oansyboo · 22/10/2020 22:26

Romey

theginge · 22/10/2020 22:33

I have a 6 month old Remy so would obviously pick that from your list! 😊 We get lots of compliments on his name and it makes a change from all the Oscar's and Reggie's (🤮)of the moment!

HairyToity · 22/10/2020 22:47

Otto, Otis and Rudy I love. Other names I can think of are Jasper and Rowan.

ShivD · 22/10/2020 22:58

I have a Rudy so I’m biased but love it and he likes his name too- he’s 12 now. I’ve called him Roo for short over the years but call him Rudy most of the time.

His brothers are Gus, Phin(eas) and Wilf.

I also really love Otis (met one at a baby class recently) and Otto.

Disneymum1993 · 22/10/2020 23:13

Love remy but spelled remi that's my wee dogs name but if I had another boy before I got my dog that would have been his name x
