When you see this name would you think it is a boys name or a girls name? Really struggling to decide on a boys name and the name Lux is one that me and DH both like but I don't know if we will use it or if it is more feminine.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I like it. Always have since Virgin Suicides.

stevalnamechanger · 17/10/2020 00:50

Yuck sorry . . Screams crushed velvet sofa 😂

CustardyCreams · 17/10/2020 01:04

Lux for a boy. Then if you have a girl, Dove, after that you could go with Ivory for another girl, and Camay for a boy.

They are all soap brands, and the names are fun. Lux, Dove, Ivory and Camay would be a lovely family.

PoodleMoth · 17/10/2020 09:28

There is a lol doll called Luxe (girl)

SoupDragon · 17/10/2020 09:43

A nice clean family.

SuitedandBooted · 17/10/2020 14:23

No. Just no. And I did Latin, so know the meaning

It's also a technical measurement of light - why not call him Wattage instead?

Soap is my second thought, followed by cheap home furnishings - "A pure Lux Mink Throw" type stuff!

Thefaceofboe · 17/10/2020 14:42

I know a girl called Lux, so girl.

SuffolkNWhat · 17/10/2020 15:08

Girl as the name of a mage in League of Legends (MOBA I play and World Championships currently on)

MikeUniformMike · 17/10/2020 15:08

I think Tusk is nicer than Ivory.

PompomDahlia · 17/10/2020 18:52

It's not great, sorry. Lux sux.

If you like the sound then what about Knox or Max

Stinkyjellycat · 17/10/2020 18:57

You’re not living in the Roman Empire and your child isn’t a soap. Give your child a proper name!

LittleDoritt · 17/10/2020 19:09

I actually like it but it is definitely a girls name for me.

ConorMasonsWife · 17/10/2020 19:29

It makes me think of lucifers nightclub... 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cbeebiesrehab · 17/10/2020 19:39

Funny isn’t it, Flora gets so many positive comments but is the name of a very popular butter but Lux (a lesser known brand) is a big no no. I wonder why that is? (Genuine ponder) I would say boy and I actually like it. Bit like a cooler version of Rex.

percheron67 · 17/10/2020 19:42

Dove?

itbemay1 · 17/10/2020 19:50

I know a girl with this as a fist name but it's lux- another name very unusual but not my cup of tea

PattyPan · 17/10/2020 19:51

It can’t remember all my school Latin but pretty sure that’s a masculine ending so I would say boy. I really really don’t like it as a name though, boy or girl.

glassshoes · 17/10/2020 19:52

Soap, sorry

waitingfortheknightbus · 17/10/2020 19:52

Is his middle name Embourg??

Luxembourg. Get it? Grin

I think we all got it and didn't need it stating.

It’s because Flora was an actual girls name long before it was used as a brand name for margarine (not butter). Lux was a soap first.

It makes me think of lingerie actually. “Lux satin French knickers” etc.

SoupDragon · 18/10/2020 09:58

It also gets a lot of negative comments because it is an easily spreadable margarine.

bea179 · 18/10/2020 10:11

Kailyn on Teen Mom 2 has a son called Lux - that's what it makes me think of. It's not a particularly bad association though

Alonelonelyloner · 18/10/2020 12:13

I like it as a boy's name but

'Please, please for the love of God call him Lux-Lether'

@Garcellesaidwhaaat

Brilliant!

Nope, lux is a feminine noun.
