When you see this name would you think it is a boys name or a girls name? Really struggling to decide on a boys name and the name Lux is one that me and DH both like but I don't know if we will use it or if it is more feminine.

Well its soap so that's what it makes me think of.

planplan · 16/10/2020 16:48

Boy.

I know someone who changed their name to this. I like it!

LadyFannyButton · 16/10/2020 16:49

I just think this.
Sorry

Lux
serialreturner · 16/10/2020 16:49

Dear God no. Neither.

Backofthenewt · 16/10/2020 16:50

I've only ever heard is as a name in The Virgin Suicides.

FlapsInTheWind · 16/10/2020 16:50

Please don't. It's a bar of soap. Perhaps LifeBuoy if it's a boy
or a girl

beela · 16/10/2020 16:51

Soap. I would think it was a soap's name.

Elbels · 16/10/2020 16:51

I'd think it wasn't a name!

aureliacecilia · 16/10/2020 16:53

Girl in the Virgin Suicides book

WhereYouLeftIt · 16/10/2020 16:53

It's soap. Soap has no sex.

FourPlasticRings · 16/10/2020 16:53

I think:
One lumen per square metre
Or
The nightclub from Lucifer
Or
Short for luxury

As a name, I would think unisex.

JaJaDingDong · 16/10/2020 16:54

Lux sux and fux.

Don't do it.

Leimarel · 16/10/2020 16:55

Louise Teasdale (ex-One Direction stylist) has a daughter called Lux.

TinaTraybake · 16/10/2020 16:55

Oh I didn't know it was a soap. It's a Greek name that means light but it's a unisex name so I was just wondering whether people thought it was more of a boys or girls name. Thank you for telling me it is also a soap.

Soap

It looks like it should be a boy's name, but I suppose it could be a girl (though Lucia would be nicer)

Disfordarkchocolate · 16/10/2020 16:55

I would think detergent.

middleager · 16/10/2020 16:57

It's a soap, but for Lux sake don't sign them up for years of school misery.

Carrotcakey · 16/10/2020 16:58

Virgin suicides - girl.
I quite like it but I think soap. Couldn’t get past that. Sorry.

AlwaysLatte · 16/10/2020 16:58

Soap, that's all I'd be able to think of!

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot · 16/10/2020 16:58

It's not Greek, it's Latin

And I'm not sure the soap still exists, but it's a brand that that's been around since over 100 years ago so it's not going to be easily forgotten

TinaTraybake · 16/10/2020 16:59

Oh sorry, I meant Latin

Personally I've not heard of the soap (nor will most kids have) and, as "weird names" go, I don't think it's really that strange? I have read way worse on these boards.

I'd probably assume boy, despite the Virgin Suicides reference. Just feels a bit more masculine for some reason.

middleager · 16/10/2020 17:08

At my comp, they'd have been nicknamed "fucks" I'm afraid. Soapy Fucks.

GrumpySausage · 16/10/2020 17:12

Boy. But only because one of the girls on teen mom USA has a son called that.

After that, I think of soap.

hollyhope · 16/10/2020 17:20

I clicked on this thread thinking that people would be recommending the soap; was planning to buy some tomorrow.
( Sheep that I am, and is it still even around?)
