When you see this name would you think it is a boys name or a girls name? Really struggling to decide on a boys name and the name Lux is one that me and DH both like but I don't know if we will use it or if it is more feminine.

Sorry I hate it. It doesn’t sound like a name, it’s clinical. My friend has named her daughter something very similar and we all feel very sorry for the baby. I’m all for interesting names but Lux isn’t great.

LOADS of names mean Light and there are some wonderful options

Luke, Lucas, Lucas, Lucy/ie, Lucia, Lucinda, Luciana/ Luciano being the most popular. Luz is ok and preferable to Lux but sounds like “loose” which again isn’t great.

Lux just makes me think of Luxembourg, or soap.

How about Alexis, which you should shorten to Lexi or Lex? Or Lyra is lovely.

One of the daughters in the Virgin Suicides was what immediately came to mind for me.

Does anyone even buy Lux soap anymore? The last time I saw a bar was in my nan’s bathroom - about 30 years ago.

Probably a girls name but I'm old enough to hand washed things in Lux Flakes so if I hear Lux I think Flakes. Not good. Bit too errrm imaginative for my liking!

Luz I believe is a name in Spanish speaking countries, and Luce in French and Italian ones. But I've not heard of Lux being used in any kind of "classical" way like that.

Teen Mom was the first thing I thought of. It's the only time I've ever heard it.
