You hear someone is going to give their baby the name Lyric.

Is your instant reaction that it’s a boys name or a girls name?

Neither of these would be my instant reaction.
But to answer your question I would say it was a girl's name

The word itself would better suit a girl. But the sound of the word is very masculine, IMO (reminiscent of Eric, I guess), so for that reason it’s a boy’s name.

(But I have to add, don’t do it; Your child is not going to live in a novel, he or she is going to have to live in the real world!)
