It's not a name and it is totally ridiculous but .... girl.

I would have thought boy, although my first response would probably have been 'pardon?'.

I wouldn't have known though and wouldn't have felt able to guess. Don't feel bad, you meant well and if people are very sensitive about that kind of thing they shouldn't choose a name like that, so your friend probably isn't bothered.

I could understand it for a girl for the same reason a previous poster said regarding it being along the same lines of Melody and Harmony but I just can’t imagine a boy with that name - especially a fully grown adult male in his 30s for example.

But each to their own I guess.

Sounds like a boy name to me. But then, Eden sounds like a girl's name to me and that's unisex, maybe the same is true of Lyric?

He’s going to wonder when he’s older what he did to upset his parents! It’s a ridiculous (not a) name, but I’d have guessed girl too.

I would say girl because the only Lyric I’ve heard of was a celebrity baby girl.
