Eloise?

Hi, both me and DH like Eloise - seems very classy and elegant yet not relatively common. What do people think of it? Our other DD is Josephine Iris (nn Josie) and are using Charlotte for the middle name of DD2. Thank you

I love it because I have one 😉. For us it was a combination of wanting something French, (my name is VERY French), and absolutely loving the Damned song, (although my mum insists that the original by Barry Ryan is the only one worth listening to!). It's not at all common around here - there were no others in her, (admittedly small), primary school, and there are no others in her year of 180 in her girls only secondary school, although I'm quite sure there are others in the rest of the school. Do it! It goes beautifully with Josephine too.

Just don't spell it ELOUISE.

LadyEloise · 19/09/2020 15:49

I agree. Abraid2
I don't like it spelled Elouise.

Abraid2 · 19/09/2020 16:29

😀

The Elouise spelling is like sticking a permanent 'mum can't spell' label on your child.

Thisismytimetoshine · 19/09/2020 17:57

Op has spelt it correctly in the title? It was some other poster who can't spell.

purpleme12 · 19/09/2020 18:20

I think the posters might have been commenting about the spelling in general

newnamesameold · 19/09/2020 18:25

LOVE IT! And I love Josie.

I like it, and think it goes with Josephine. Far from bring 1970s, it sounds quite 1920s to me.

A pretty name that seems to have picked up in popularity lately. But yet another El name. Ellie, Ella, Elsie, Eliza, Eleanor, Elizabeth are all currently top100. Would be good to drop the El names for a good few years.

Personally I’m not keen but that’s because I irrationally hate the name Louise and therefore named like Eloise and Louisa are too close and it makes me dislike them. This is a weird personal thing though, it’s fine as a name.

I prefer Elodie

What about Lois?

stoptheworldiwant2getoff · 20/09/2020 20:36

I like it a lot
