Eloise?

Hi, both me and DH like Eloise - seems very classy and elegant yet not relatively common. What do people think of it? Our other DD is Josephine Iris (nn Josie) and are using Charlotte for the middle name of DD2. Thank you

I love it and your other daughter's name is beautiful too, great choices!

JustanotherTuesday · 16/09/2020 21:18

I think it's a lovely name and a brilliant song .

frustrationcentral · 16/09/2020 21:18

I don't like it, caused by a child a couple of years below DS1 - her mum used to bellow it across the playground every bloody morning. Put me right off 😂

JamieLeeCurtains · 16/09/2020 21:19

I love it.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 16/09/2020 21:19

My best friend's daughter is Eloise, known as Ellie, lovely name x

ChelseeDagger · 16/09/2020 21:19

I want to like it but to my admittedly anglicised ears it sounds like a portmanteau of Eleanor and Louise. Although, my next door neighbour has a fourteen year old named Eloise though and she is a lovely girl.
Hmmm meh, its ok all things considered.

Oh! Have you considered Sylvie? Same vein but much better imho.

BingeOnChocolate · 16/09/2020 21:20

I've always loved the name. Unfortunately my mum is Louise so it's ruled out for me to use

ellieboulou33 · 16/09/2020 21:30

Louisa is much nicer, but I am biased Smile

Ellmau · 16/09/2020 22:08

Very nice. Or you could have Eloisa.

anxiousanna75 · 16/09/2020 22:09

I love it. I remember a kids Australian TV drama in the early 90's about a girl called Eloise, but can't for the life of me remember what it was called. That was the first time I heard the name. I've met a few since and always liked the name.

Firebird83 · 16/09/2020 22:10

I’m not keen. Louisa is much nicer.

Lindy2 · 16/09/2020 22:17

I like it. I also like Elodie and Elise. All very pretty names to me and not overused.

finallychangedmyusername · 16/09/2020 22:28

Eloise is gorgeous and Eloise Charlotte is just stunning.

NeedToKnow101 · 16/09/2020 22:40

I like it.

Tillygetsit · 16/09/2020 22:51

I love this name. Couldn't consider it or any other El names as dh's ex was Ellie.

NotSoFlatStanley · 16/09/2020 22:53

Love it, but that’s because I have a Charlotte Eloise Smile

Bananice · 16/09/2020 23:10

I love the name, but could never call a child it after horrific memories of a lovely girl at primary school being nicknamed "Yellow wees". Kids are inventive and cruel.....

MsTSwift · 16/09/2020 23:16

I hate it sorry. I can’t explain why just think it’s an awful whiny name.

RAOK · 16/09/2020 23:18

I love it too!

Thisismytimetoshine · 16/09/2020 23:19

I like it.

Hermano · 16/09/2020 23:22

I really like it. Another French choice I wish I could have used was Cecile looking at you DS

daisypond · 16/09/2020 23:26

It’s fine, but lacks a bit of oomph to me. I know quite a few, from primary school age to 40s. I much prefer Louisa, which has similar sounds but is weightier.

SeasideArms · 16/09/2020 23:38

Love it! Always wanted to use it for a DD, ever since the 60s song Dear Eloise (my parents used to play it in the 70s)
DH sadly wouldn't play ball, but it is DD's middle name. I think it's gaining in popularity though?

BackforGood · 16/09/2020 23:50

I really like it (and love Josephine)

greenteafiend · 17/09/2020 01:59

It's pleasant enough but there are so many "El~" names about at the moment.
