Mind you you've got to be sure you're not going to have a kid that resembles a gargoyle if you call it Belle too!

snowgirl1 · 01/09/2020 16:50

Don't like Jaxon at all.
Melody is okay. Belle is okay - but together they sound really twee.

Jellyeggs · 01/09/2020 16:53

Sorry I agree with others about Jaxon. He sounds like the naughty kid that no one wants their kid sitting next to. I like the other names though. Melody is gorgeous.

tornadoalley · 01/09/2020 16:57

Sickly
Misspelt

Geranium01 · 01/09/2020 16:58

"Melody Belle" makes me assume that it is most important to you that your child is pretty, as opposed to funny, kind, clever, adventurous etc - Belle in particular is twee but paired up they are quite awful!

Jaxon Samuel is ok! Agree with PPs that constantly correcting the spelling could become quite annoying though

itsjakeandamy · 01/09/2020 17:02

I like Melody and I really like Belle.
But Melody Belle reminds me of a steamship. It sounds like Liberty Bell.
I like Samuel and Jack.
I'm not keen on Jackson at all but I really dislike Jaxon.

lobsteroll · 01/09/2020 17:04

Definitely prefer the spelling Jackson but love the sound of the name. Love Samuel. Think the two names sound lovely together.

Melody is unusual but I like it. If it was me I wouldn't put it with the middle name Belle though.

MadCattery · 01/09/2020 17:05

Am in the US where there are many many Jaxons. It started out as a cute misspelling and now it’s tiresome. Both Melody and Belle are nice, but maybe not so much together.

Grandmi · 01/09/2020 17:06

Belle,Melody and Samuel ok .Jaxon...not the correct spelling

Poppyismyfavourite · 01/09/2020 17:11

Melody is Ok - although I instantly think of Gone with the wind and she's a bit wet tbh... With Belle it's much too cute and rhyhmy with the repeated "el" sound.

Jaxon is TERRIBLE! I don't like surnames as first names anyway sorry, so even Jackson isn't great... Samuel is a great classic name though - Best of the 4!

Poppyismyfavourite · 01/09/2020 17:12

^ sorry I can't seem to spell and I'm not even sure rhyme-y is a real word!

EleanorOalike · 01/09/2020 17:13

Do you mean MELANIE? There isn’t a Melody in GWTW?

emmathedilemma · 01/09/2020 17:13

Melody is ok
Belle makes me cringe
Jaxon is awful, absolutely destined to be the naughty kid in the class
Samuel is lovely

bearfood · 01/09/2020 17:14

Don't get the hate for Jaxon but I have a beloved dgs with that name so I'm biased Smile I like Melody too

MadCattery · 01/09/2020 17:14

Interesting article on Jaxon and some other names and considerations. www.mamamia.com.au/baby-names-teachers/

JustanotherTuesday · 01/09/2020 17:24

Jaxon Samuel made me immediately think of the actor. I like Belle but I prefer it if it's a nickname for Isabelle or Annabelle. I'm not very keen on Melody.

Lweji · 01/09/2020 17:32

Your boy won't thank you for having to spell his name every single time.

It's also too close to Samuel L. Jackson.

For the girl, I agree it's twee, but more liveable with.
I suspect she'll end up being a Mel.

Pobblebonk · 01/09/2020 17:32

Melody without Belle.

Jaxon - no. If you must, Jackson.

CarolVordermansArse · 01/09/2020 17:35

Not Jaxon, it looks as if you can't spell or are a try hard. Spell it properly if you are going to use a surname as a first name.

Belle, not keen on that at all but may be because of the whiny man snatcher one in Emmerdale. As a middle name it wouldn't matter because people wouldn't know.

BigRedBoat · 01/09/2020 17:39

Assuming belle and Samuel are middle names and day today you'll be calling them Melody and Jaxon I don't think they really 'go' together, they seem quite different styles.

Brakebackcyclebot · 01/09/2020 17:40

Melody - nice
Belle - nice

But not together. Melody Belle sounds like a porn star, or a Mississippi steamer, or a steam train.

Jaxon - really really awful. Looks like you're trying too hard to be cool. Jackson is OK.

Samuel - nice.

BigRedBoat · 01/09/2020 17:40

Sorry completely misunderstood and thought you were naming twins, if you're not using them together then it doesn't matter if they're not the same style!

MJMG2015 · 01/09/2020 17:43

Melody Belle sounds like an instrument!!

Jaxon - just no Jackson is 'ok' but a wee bit 'Kevin' of the time.

Scotinportugal · 01/09/2020 18:16

Love the name Jaxon! I really wanted it for my baby boy due in November but unfortunately I live abroad and it really doesn't work in Portuguese Sad love love melody for a girl, it's beautiful

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 01/09/2020 18:25

Samuel is classic

Jaxon sounds very American to me, in a using a last name for a first name sort of way. And it has the unusual spelling which makes it more interesting but less easy to shorten to Jack

Melody Belle both used together make me think of a southern belle type thing. It has gone with the wind, cotton ranch type connotations.

Melody on its own is quite funky and you could make it your own as aside from music there are no other connotations.

Belle on its own reminds me of old fashioned Disney princesses, of the kind that have no agency.

Congratulations on your baby x
