Lucy or Penny?

We are currently expecting a baby. Don't know the sex yet. We have a boys name set in stone but not a girls.
What are people's thoughts on Penny and Lucy?

We have also thrown around the idea of Francesca, known as Frankie after a family member but not too sure.
Thanks in advance

I prefer Lucy to Penny. Lucy is probably a bit more common but I don’t hear either very often

Francesca is a lovely name.

lovelymm · 19/08/2020 21:31

They're all lovely but I love Penny. I knew a Penny whose full name was Persephone.

Elmo230885 · 19/08/2020 21:42

Lucy. I liked the name for DD but DH said he went to school with a horrible Lucy so that was out ( to be fair I had the same reason for refusing to consider Heather! ). You don't realise how many people you've disliked throughout your life until you come to name your children!!

DrStrangesMagicDressingGown · 19/08/2020 21:46

Lucy. I know more Pennys than I do Lucys, FWIW.

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2020 21:46

Lucy, by a long way. It's so simple, neat and pretty. I really love it.

Penelope is nice but I'm not as keen on Penny.

I dislike Francesca & particularly Frankie with a passion so I couldn't vote for those.

Changedname81 · 19/08/2020 22:44

I love Lucy and actually would discount Penelope (a name I really like in full) because I’m not overly keen on Penny and feel it would be inevitable

MrsBungle · 19/08/2020 22:47

Penny is lovely as is Francesca. I’m really not a fan of Lucy. Personally, I find it twee.

JulesCobb · 19/08/2020 22:48

Love penny and francesca

TinyMetalBirds · 19/08/2020 22:49

Lucy, unless Penny is going to be short for Penelope.

Luckingfovely · 19/08/2020 22:49

All are lovely names; I know hordes of Lucys though, so my vote goes to Penny!

IslandLulu · 19/08/2020 22:50

Lucy

Definitely Penny, every Penny I've known have been lovely, Lucy's not so much.

PlantPotting · 20/08/2020 00:09

Both lovely especially Lucy. But I really like Penny too. Hate Francesca though sorry. Way too frilly compared to your other lovely names.

janetmendoza · 20/08/2020 00:19

Lucy

Enough4me · 20/08/2020 00:23

Lucy, because Penny makes me think of money.

Inkpaperstars · 20/08/2020 00:23

Difficult, I have relatives called both of these names and like them both! I think Lucy is the better choice though, it's more versatile somehow.

wishing3 · 20/08/2020 00:25

Lucy!

AlwaysLatte · 20/08/2020 01:16

Lucy is lovely

MsMarple · 20/08/2020 01:43

Penny (Penelope) definitely. I wanted to be Penelope Pitstop when I was younger!

howlathebees · 20/08/2020 02:04

Penny

IdblowJonSnow · 20/08/2020 02:24

Lucy and then penny. I dont know many of either.
Dislike Francesca, sorry!
Lucy is Latin and means light which I think is lovely!

August20 · 20/08/2020 02:42

Lucy. I love it!

I also like Penny but only as a nickname.

I really like Francesca as well.

Peachbubble · 20/08/2020 07:11

Lucy, not keen on Penny.

pilates · 20/08/2020 07:14

Francesca is my favourite
Then Lucy
Dislike Penny
