Rory or Ronnie?

Baby boy is due in 5 weeks. My partner has his heart set on Rory but yesterday I came across the name Ronnie on a baby names list, I really like it.
Which do you prefer?

Rory

Rory, by a long way.

GinWithRosie · 11/08/2020 15:40

If it's only those two choices, I'd have to go with Rory over Ronnie, which is really, really awful (in my opinion, obviously). But I don't much like Rory either if I'm honest.

I have always avoided 'R' names, as I hear so many children (and actually many adults!) with poor 'R' pronunciation and it has just put me off.

But your baby, your choice...just, not Ronnie 😱

DramaAlpaca · 11/08/2020 15:41

Rory, by about a hundred million miles. Gorgeous name.

Ronnie just doesn't compare, it's awful.

Parkandride · 11/08/2020 15:42

Very different vibes, Rory works in the city, Ronnie is Mrs Hinchs kid

AllPlayedOut · 11/08/2020 15:42

Rory is infinitely nicer. Ronnie is awful.

GoingBackTo505 · 11/08/2020 15:43

Rory. Ronnie has a very different, not as lovely vibe to me.

AdaColeman · 11/08/2020 15:44

Rory, by very many miles.

OTOH I do like Reginald with Reggie as a nickname.

SavoyCabbage · 11/08/2020 15:48

Rory.

Ronnie is very popular for a start. It’s not a name that will carry you through life with any sense of gravitas.

PiratePetespajamas · 11/08/2020 15:55

Ronnie is horrible.

Rory is quite sweet. And a decent name for a grown up too.

Peachbubble · 11/08/2020 15:55

Rory 100%

Sunshines123 · 11/08/2020 15:56

Another vote for Rory 😊

Prettybluepigeons · 11/08/2020 15:57

Rory.
Ronnie is really awful.

ShipshapeShore · 11/08/2020 15:59

I really like Rory but there are 3 in my small school so it might be gaining popularity. I was surprised as I thought it was unusual!

desertcoffeeyoga · 11/08/2020 16:05

Rory

wrensandrobins · 11/08/2020 16:06

I called my dog Rory, and it really suits him, but now me and my partner are a bit gutted because it probably would have been our boys name!

GinWithRosie · 11/08/2020 16:19

@wrensandrobins friends of mine did that with the name Max...they called their dog Max then regretted it years later when they realised it was their actual favourite boys name! Luckily they had two girls 😂

Mommabear20 · 11/08/2020 16:23

Personally prefer Ronnie to Rory, knew abou when I was a kid called Rory and he was a little s**t!
But keep in mind peoples minds usually go to the kray twins with the names Ronnie or reggie. But ultimately it's your choice

Graymare · 11/08/2020 16:27

Definitely Rory

Toddlerteaplease · 11/08/2020 16:40

Both terrible!

merryhouse · 11/08/2020 16:43

Ronnie is an East End gangster. Still.

TheRosariojewels · 11/08/2020 16:45

I like Roddy.

ThaGugaBlasta · 11/08/2020 16:45

Rory.

It's for a boy, right? Neither for a girl, sorry.
