Edie pronounced Ee-Dee

howlathebees · 09/08/2020 22:11

Edie pronounced ee-dee

ClaudiaWankleman · 09/08/2020 22:13

They’re both ee-dee and they’re both awful.

NameChange84 · 09/08/2020 22:14

Edie looks like ee-dee

Eadie looks made up and like it could be Ee-add-ee or Ee-ay-dee (like Sadie)

sunrainwind · 09/08/2020 22:18

Edie is definitely say eedee

Eadie- I wouldn't know for sure, eedee, ay-dee, Eddie?

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/08/2020 22:18

Edie

omg35 · 09/08/2020 22:18

Don't name her Eadie. She'll be resigned to having to spell her name forever. I have an unusually spelt name and it drives me crazy

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 09/08/2020 22:19

Edie is short for Edith, so pronounced the same way.

Emelene · 09/08/2020 22:20

Eadie is really tricky I think. Will have to be spelt out constantly and I would wonder about pronouncing it Eedee or Aydee? Edith is beautiful though.

Poppydaisies · 09/08/2020 22:21

Edie is Ed-ie (Edwina)

Eadie is Ead-ie

NannyR · 09/08/2020 22:22

I'd pronounce them both ee-di. I much prefer Edie as a nickname for Edith. Eadie looks a bit made up and she could have issues with people spelling it wrong.

Stradivari · 09/08/2020 22:22

Edie is Ee-Dee, short for Edith and one of my DCs names so excellent choice. Eadie is a surname in my circle of acquaintances

Mum2jenny · 09/08/2020 22:23

All just wrong imo, child will have to spell out the name too many times.

Grufallosfriends · 09/08/2020 22:23

Edie is Ed-ee

I know an Edward who goes by Ed or Edie.

Eadie is Eed-ee

spiritedawai · 09/08/2020 22:23

I'm in the minority.

I think Edie looks like Eddie spelt wrong.

I prefer Eadie (by a small fraction).

Edith is lovely.

Stradivari · 09/08/2020 22:23

*can be short for

MummyofMunchkins123 · 09/08/2020 22:25

Not keen on Eadie tbf just seen a few people suggest 'Eddie' for Edie spelling.

cherrybakewells3 · 09/08/2020 22:26

Edie. IMO Eadie looks ridiculous and made up and I can imagine it would often be pronounced wrong/questioned

cherrybakewells3 · 09/08/2020 22:27

I do really like the name though!

NameChange84 · 09/08/2020 22:31

Surely ED-ee is Eddy or Eddie not Edie?! From a teaching perspective, I’ve not come across an Edie pronounced Ed-ee as would be short for Edward or Edwina.

I’m really not keen on either spelling or the name itself tbh. It’s an “old lady” type name like Ivy or Ada but too cutesy to be sophisticated. It’s ok as a nickname for Edith but won’t age well for an adult.

Pippilangstrumpfi · 09/08/2020 22:34

Of course Edie is ED-ee. Ed is Ed and ie is ie!

I know an Edna who's known as Edie (Ed-ie).

If you want Eedie spell it Eedie or Eadie.

Pippilangstrumpfi · 09/08/2020 22:37

Ed or Edie can also be short for Edward or Edwina. Or Edna.

Minimoosher · 09/08/2020 22:38

Eedie is the name for cash given to Muslim children on Eid. That's my first thought on the name.

Lavenderblues · 09/08/2020 22:42

I would pronounce Edie as Ed-ee. Like Ed or Edwina.

Eadie would be Eed-ee.

daisypond · 09/08/2020 22:44

Edie is Ee-Dee.
Eadie makes no sense. I’ve never seen it before. Logically it might be Eddy. Like head-ie. Or dead-ie.
