Summer/Nautical Inspired Names

I absolutely adore everything nautical and just love the warm summer weather.
Today while soaking up the lovely warm weather the UK is currently experiencing, I got thinking about some names.
The only one I came up with for a girl is Summer.

Could you please throw me some nautical/summer names for boys and girls?

Just as an aside, what are your views on naming a child after a parents love? Good idea or not?

Many thanks.

Caspian?

I don’t see why you shouldn’t name them with a link to your passion. So long as you don’t call them anything that will cause them problems in the future 😊

Sailor.

TwangBadge · 07/08/2020 16:52

Nautical (ish!): Waverly (Waves), River, Isla (meaning 'island'), Lake, Kai (meaning 'sea')

Summer: Summer!, August, Sunny

What did you mean by "naming a child after a parents love"?

TwangBadge · 07/08/2020 16:53

Oh sorry just noticed you already had summer

summerloving2506 · 07/08/2020 16:57

@TwangBadge Pretty self explanatory.... naming a child after something a parent or both parents love? Rather than just choosing 'a name'?
I personally don't like naming after dead or alive relatives either.

Sorley for a boy.

I think OP means a passion or a hobby.

Marina, Chandler, Shannon, Bailey, Mallin, Fitzroy.. because the mother likes sailing.

I love the name Sun after watching ‘lost’ years ago but I wouldn’t be brave enough to name my child that alone Blush

Not sure if it’s your taste at all but I know a little girl called soleil (french for sun) and gets called sunny as a nickname. Her mum is french-Canadian though so perhaps it wouldn’t work on a non french speaking family but I’ve always found it quite sweet !

Pearl, coral, Ariel, Shelley, Cordeilia (Welsh goddess, it means jewel of the sea)

Summer names-
Aurora
Kira (Persian for sun and Latin for light)
Meadow
Daisy
Helen (means Sunday or shining light)
Jasmine
