What do you think of first name Joy?

Really drawn to the name and its simplicity.

I like it but it will only work with some surnames

Floralnomad · 30/07/2020 21:55

Dull , sorry

WinnieLowCo · 30/07/2020 21:55

Lovely.

Refreshingly short.

Ellmau · 30/07/2020 21:59

I think it's lovely.

Zoomintheroom · 30/07/2020 22:02

Love it.

Merename · 30/07/2020 22:06

Love it too.

AvoidingTheWineAisle · 30/07/2020 22:07

It’s beautiful.

Aquamarine1029 · 30/07/2020 22:09

I really don't like it. I've known two Joys and ironically they are both miserable, hateful women.

ElsieBeard · 30/07/2020 22:40

It's beautiful. my DD has it for a middle name!

LivingMyBestLifeNOT · 31/07/2020 00:20

Joyce?

DramaAlpaca · 31/07/2020 00:23

I like it a lot, but probably prefer it for a middle name. I love short, neat names.

RhianFuckingMorris · 31/07/2020 00:32

I like it. Simple and relatively unusual. Not that many baby Joys at the moment so she would be one of a few without a shit/made up name/spelt wierd name that screams I'm desperate to be unusual.

MaleficentsCrow · 31/07/2020 00:53

I adore the name Joy. It's my "if I ever have another baby and it's a girl" name of choice. So I'm biased haha

Cattenberg · 31/07/2020 01:08

I really like it, especially as a middle name. I think it’s about time it came back into fashion.

My only reservation is that it’s a virtue for the bearer of the name to live up to, and not everyone can manage that. Mind you, so is Grace, and that hasn’t stopped it being super popular.

WantToBeMum · 31/07/2020 01:12

I love it, it's classic and beautiful. Don't demote it to a middle name, it should be first.

5363738383j · 31/07/2020 01:13

Quite confusing for a little person because it's so similar to toy and boy. Faye is also simple and similar in meaning.

ButterflyRuns · 31/07/2020 01:20

I like it, although I'd be more drawn to it as a middle name.

Pegaroo · 31/07/2020 06:56

It’s a happy name and probably old lady enough to deserve a revival

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 31/07/2020 09:26

We know a primary age joy.
Lovely simple name.
But I always smile when I hear
Joy, come here
Joy, get down
Joy, listen
Shouted across the playground

Littlepond · 31/07/2020 09:27

I love the name Joy. It’s so simple but pretty. There is always the risk that she won’t be very ... joyful... I suppose.

TheGriffle · 31/07/2020 09:29

I love the name Joy but as with previous posters, the one and only one I know is a miserable sod which puts me off the name!

SomeWateryTart · 31/07/2020 10:35

I like it! I know one. She definitely isn't a laugh a minute tbf, but she is super bright. I met her at uni. She is an Oxbridge grad. Very religious. Loooooong hair and no make up. She was joyous, but in a holy way iyswim. So no, not a barrel of laughs, or the life and soul of the party, but she was joyful in her own way.

daisypond · 31/07/2020 11:11

I like it.

babynamelover · 31/07/2020 11:13

Not a fan sorry. There's one at school with my daughter. One of those names that seems like a lot to live up to.

Allmyeye · 31/07/2020 11:16

I like it. Not overused either which is always a plus for me although you never can predict what will happen.
