Thoughts on Peter?

Hello, me and DW quite like this name for DS1; it seems fairly strong and traditional but not particularly popular nowadays. What do people think of it? Middle name will be George, surname Cameron. Thank you Smile

I really like it, but he will get called Pete, which I also like.

Pantheon · 27/07/2020 12:34

I like it

SheilaHammond · 27/07/2020 12:39

Love it. Under- used classic name. I like Simon for the same reason.

Somethingvague · 27/07/2020 12:40

I really like Peter. Surprised it's not had more of a comeback with Peter Rabbit's popularity.

TheRosariojewels · 27/07/2020 12:44

I love it.

daisypond · 27/07/2020 13:37

Yes, it’s good.

Pippilsngstrumpfie · 27/07/2020 13:41

Good solid name.

A refreshing change from all the cutesy Archie, Alfie, Teddies these days.

Hillcrofta · 27/07/2020 14:50

I like it

LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!

Whatsyourflava · 27/07/2020 16:30

And yes @Tom1989 it's not popular these days but I'm not sure why ! Very underused classic name. Soft but strong.
I'd be more surprised to meet a baby called Peter than a baby called Fox these days

CharlieBoo · 27/07/2020 16:42

I love it x

rosy71 · 27/07/2020 16:42

I like it. I suggested it for both my dses but dp wasn't keen.

VenusClapTrap · 27/07/2020 16:43

Good name.

GreenTeaMug · 27/07/2020 16:46

My nephew is called Peter. he is nearly 12. people were very meh about it at first. But I have to say it has really grown on me, and there are only compliments. He is the only one in his school, and IMP it is really sute on a baby, suits a toddler and a yoiung boy and it is a name that takes you throuhg the ages.

It is a family name and my SIL was a bit pushed into it. She preferred (from memory) Theo or Toby and another name I can't bring to mind right now. Now she freely admits she loves it.

GreenTeaMug · 27/07/2020 16:47

IMP was meant to be IMO and 'sute' was cute.

FeedMeSantiago · 27/07/2020 16:53

I like it, can't use it for family reasons.

I know five Peters - in their 80s, 50s and early 20s.

A solid classic, easy to spell and say, but they'll probably be the only one in their class.

sapphire54925 · 27/07/2020 17:35

I'm calling my baby Peter when he arrives in 3 weeks Smile

nodtik · 27/07/2020 17:39

My 80 year dad is Peter and it's the most wonderful timeless name!!

I LOVE IT

It means rock - Perfect name xx

resm · 27/07/2020 19:28

Love it! Refreshing compared to some names you hear nowadays.

DramaAlpaca · 27/07/2020 19:29

Love it. It's a really good name, an underused classic that deserves a revival.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 27/07/2020 19:30

My lovely dad was a Peter. It means rock. And he was.

Caravanserai · 27/07/2020 19:35

I think it’s kind of wet. Plus it reminds me of various tiresome fictional Peters, like the one in the Peter and Jane books, the maniacal head of the Secret Seven, bossy mini-patriarch Peter in the Narnia books, Perfect Peter in the Horrid Henry series etc etc.

Caravanserai · 27/07/2020 19:36

It’s the male version of Pam, Janet or Barbara for me.

Mybobowler · 27/07/2020 19:37

I adore this name and how it sounds. So underused, I can't remember the last young person or child with this name, and he'd definitely stand out among the million Freddies, Arthurs, Teddies and Archies he'll be at school with.
