Willa?

What do you think of this girls name?
Willow was one of my favourite names but it's getting too common where I live.
I heard Willa for the first time from my MIL - It's a big bonus that she likes it.
It has a totally different vibe to Willow, I know. But I liked it instantly.

What do you think?

I really like it

bridgetreilly · 16/07/2020 13:15

I don't like it, sorry.

pinkyredrose · 16/07/2020 13:16

Horrid.

ladymary86 · 16/07/2020 13:22

No. Sorry, I really don't like it.

Whatsyourflava · 16/07/2020 13:26

I ADORE IT.
It's one of my favourite names if not my favourite
Desperate to have a daughter to use it. 🤣
I know one little Willa via a friend of a friend and the name suits her so well.
If you watch the tv programme succession, there's an adult Willa in it and she's gorgeous

Danniiaddy · 16/07/2020 13:28

Sorry but Willow and Willa aren’t very nice names for a girl.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 16/07/2020 13:37

It's the name of a character in a kids' book, stuck in my head cos the story was annoying, and that's all it reminds me of now!

I know that's a link that not many people would have, but you've also got to factor in a very strong northern accent, where Willy would sound almost the same as Willa. I can imagine on holiday or whatever people wondering why her name is Willy.

Happenchance · 16/07/2020 13:45

I don't like it. It sounds like someone is mispronouncing Willow and as @CurlyhairedAssassin says, it's too similar to Willy.

Ilovewillow · 16/07/2020 14:03

I have a 12 yr old willow (it's not common in our area) and I still love it as a name. Also love Willa - they both seem ethereal to me with a similar feel.

123Dancewithme · 16/07/2020 14:35

Love it!

Lightofthephoenix · 16/07/2020 14:37

Wilhemina and then shorten to Willa.

I don't like it as a stand alone name.

Fawnandwren · 16/07/2020 14:39

Like Willa Cather the writer? I love it. Although that was short for Wilella

AnotherBiteMe · 16/07/2020 14:44

To me its a ugly and harsh sounding name.

DramaAlpaca · 16/07/2020 14:46

I think it's awful, sorry. It's a very unattractive name.

It also sounds like someone struggling to say Willow.

FelicityPike · 16/07/2020 14:46

Love it.
Dumplin’s real name.

Twizbe · 16/07/2020 14:48

Willa Claudia immediately came to mind ... only a slight negative if you've seen Carry on Cleopatra

pinkpinecone · 16/07/2020 14:59

Really not keen and don't understand why it's increasing in popularity

Cindie943811A · 16/07/2020 15:26

I think of it as American

BarnOwl26 · 17/07/2020 04:38

I like it!

imjustanerd · 17/07/2020 04:49

I know a man called willa, it's a lovely name I'd never heard it before. Apparently it's Cornish? But not too sure.

022828MAN · 17/07/2020 05:23

Really dislike it, sorry!

Cbeebiesrehab · 17/07/2020 07:32

Love it!

PlantPotting · 17/07/2020 07:36

Willa is such a great name - love it!

Aria20 · 17/07/2020 07:38

Sounds like someone pronouncing Willow badly.... stick with Willow it's much nicer and it's not that popular like Evie/Eva/Ava/Isla etc

Marcipex · 17/07/2020 07:44

It’s awful. Much too like Willy.
Also, I know very few Willows, and those are 11-13, not babies.
