Too plain?

Sweet

BeMorePacific · 05/07/2020 11:41

It’s classic and a beautiful name.
But I do instantly think “Plain Jane” xx

PetraRabbit · 05/07/2020 12:05

I think classic and quite properly posh.

worstwitch18 · 05/07/2020 12:07

I think it's classic. It's grown on me over the years.

I don't immediately think "plain Jane" - in fact I think of Jane Bennet the Austen character (and Jane Austen herself).

zingally · 05/07/2020 12:12

I like it!

I have an auntie Jane, so I a bit associate with my mums generation. But I can picture a little girl called Jane, and it's quite a sweet name.

SoftBlocks · 05/07/2020 12:18

I never think of ‘plain Jane’ because I’ve known so many cool, intelligent, interesting and beautiful women called Jane. I really like it.

MikeUniformMike · 05/07/2020 12:24

Classic and underused. I've always liked it.

daisypond · 05/07/2020 12:46

It’s really nice. Classic, simple and cool. Stands out in a good way.

Pinkypink · 05/07/2020 13:09

I like it.
Due a comeback imo

Twizbe · 05/07/2020 13:26

I live Jane Austen so I think it's a lovely name. Sweet, classic, not too little girl like,

foxtiger · 05/07/2020 14:40

I like it a lot and would like to see it revived. It was probably the most popular girls' name of my generation (neck-and-neck with Claire), and perhaps because of that, I can see it suiting many different personalities.

midsomermurderess · 05/07/2020 17:22

I really like it. It has a certain elegant austerity to it, as against the rather frilly Emily, Olivia, Ottitle (snort) etc. I like Jean too, but that is perhaps a little different.

123Dancewithme · 05/07/2020 17:33

Lovely. Janie is also really sweet as a nn.

HelenaJustina · 05/07/2020 17:37

I think Austen not plain, definitely due a revival!

Callybrid · 05/07/2020 19:24

I don’t really like the sound of it. I’m not a fan of many J girls names though.

It makes me think of Peter and Jane ladybird books and also a bit of Patrick Jane in the Mentalist.

GoshHashana · 06/07/2020 13:32

Refreshing! I love it.

Awrite · 06/07/2020 13:34

I love it!

BuffaloCauliflower · 06/07/2020 13:35

I know a Jane in her early thirties (same as me) and it’s definitely unusual at our age, but she’s really cool, smart and interesting and certainly not plain at all. I think it’s classic.

Spied · 06/07/2020 13:38

I think plain. Sorry.

FawnDrench · 06/07/2020 13:38

Lovely name.
Classic and refined.

Tavannach · 06/07/2020 13:41

Lovely - classic and elegant.

Splattherat · 06/07/2020 13:41

Lovely classic traditional pretty unpretentious slightly unusual name that would suit a baby, little girl, teen, woman and gran.

Heytheredelilah99 · 06/07/2020 15:42

Prefer it as a middle name

FrugiFan · 06/07/2020 16:46

I would love to meet a baby or little girl named Jane!

Catty15 · 06/07/2020 16:50

I really like it!
