My DH and I are struggling to come up with girls names. My DH does not want a name that is too poplar we had settled on Martha, but we recently know if a couple of newborn Martha's. DH has suggested Piper, what do people think?

Hm. It’s very different to Martha in style. Piper is in Harper territory - but not quite as celeb wannabe naff. A piper is a big bearded man in Highland dress to me. There are worse names, though. But I don’t like Martha - it’s too much a worthy servant name.

Piper is my favourite baby girls name and if I ever had a girl I would definitely choose this. Despite doing a thread of my own on the name Piper and getting SO many negative comments, the positives outweighed them. I absolutely love it, it’s so sweet and the nicknames Pip, Pippa and P and sweet baby nicknames too. It’s one that as they get older can just use the full ‘piper’ too!

I love piper, most likely because of my one of my favourite tv shows, charmed. But it really is a unique pretty name.

It’s grown on me over the last years, I’ve gone from not particularly liking it to really liking it.

I really like it, its slightly unusual and bit different.

If you like a name as long as its not completely ridiculous go for it, there will always be people who dislike the name you choose, I expect you might also dislike their choices.
