Edward, Francis or Nicholas?

For upcoming DS. We will most likely shorten to Ted, Frank and Nick respectively. Middle name will be Peter. Which do people on here prefer? Thanks Smile

All lovely, but I especially like Nicholas because you never meet any under about 45 these days!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 15/06/2020 20:00

Nicholas/Nick

Ughmaybenot · 15/06/2020 20:01

Nicholas, nn Nick. I’d love to be able to use this name but can’t 😭

seriousandloyal · 15/06/2020 20:02

Prefer Nick

VerbenaGirl · 15/06/2020 20:05

Like Edward / Ted best.
Nicholas / Nick seems really dated.
Frank reminds me of that drugs advice website, but I do like Francis shortened to Fran.

Love Nicholas, like Edward a lot but afraid I'm really not keen on Francis.

DidgeDoolittle · 15/06/2020 20:06

I have an Edward. He was known as Ted when he was a child. He now has a serious job and uses Edward. I'm so glad we chose it. It's a brilliant name.

sweetnosugar · 15/06/2020 20:08

Edward is a fabulous name! Works well for a cute baby and for a grown adult.

farmertom · 15/06/2020 20:11

Love, love, love your choices! All were on my list.
I think Nicholas nn Nick is the best. Not popular but a well known name. Wish we could have used it as it was my number 1. Veto'd by DH 😢

We named DS Patrick

Mammyloveswine · 15/06/2020 20:24

I love Nicholas!

Mammyloveswine · 15/06/2020 20:25

In fact i love all of them!

DopamineHits · 15/06/2020 20:27

Are you giving birth to a vicar? Grin

I like Nicholas.

formerbabe · 15/06/2020 20:27

Nicholas is the best...Edward is good too...both have good nicknames too.

Really dislike Francis...it's a bit wet

TheThingWithFeathers · 15/06/2020 20:27

Edward for sure. The others sound very dated.

toastofthetown · 15/06/2020 20:36

I love Francis! Nicholas is lovely too - maybe slightly dated, but it's still in solid use today. Not keen on Edward.

DramaAlpaca · 15/06/2020 20:37

Nicholas for me. I'd shorten it to Nico.

Robs20 · 15/06/2020 20:39

Love Nicholas, nn Nico.

ILoveStickers · 15/06/2020 20:41

Edward

Sexnotgender · 15/06/2020 20:42

I’ve got a baby Francis. I like Fran as a nickname but not Frank.

daisypond · 15/06/2020 20:42

Nicholas is fresh these days. But I also do really like Edward. I’m much less keen on Francis. It’s the cis I don’t like. Though Frances for a girl is great.

ChelseaCat · 15/06/2020 20:45

I love Francis but definitely not shortened to Frank Confused

Cabin · 15/06/2020 20:50

Francis, though I like them all.

Maria53 · 15/06/2020 20:52

Francis, though I like Nicholas too

Jen02041994 · 15/06/2020 21:09

@Biscuitsneeded exactly! We picked these names out as they are good strong traditional names (albeit not used as much now) that stand out from all the popular names currently like Oliver, William, Samuel, Thomas etc (not that these are bad, just far too commonplace right now).
