Really open to suggestions and everyone's comments on them

Greer is not ok. It is not a name apart from a surname of Germaine ( and otherssobv.)
I can’t imagine calling a pet Greer, let alone a dd

cptartapp · 24/05/2020 08:33

Lumen is also the sizing of a catheter which drains urine.
So funny. Tell us your others.

Aclh13 · 24/05/2020 08:50

Harper✔️ but common
Ocean
Lilac✔️❔ could shorten to lily
Astor❔again OK.
Scout❔ its OK.
Blaze❌
Greer❌
Indigo✔️ could shorten to indie
Bali✔️
Fallon ❌
Holland❔ could shorten to hollie
Tatum❌
Ace❌
Brighton✔️
Lumen❌
Teal❌
Halston❌
Collins❔ don't love don't hate
Gage - Biggest guilty pleasure ever I don't even know why❔ indifferent don't love it but not awful its one of those names you'd probably get used too.

newmum332 · 24/05/2020 08:55

Is this a joke? They’re all awful.
Harper is extremely overused. Indigo is the only other one I would consider to be an actual name. The rest to me seem like made up names.

daisypond · 24/05/2020 09:05

Harper - downmarket /celeb wannabe
Ocean - no
Lilac -yes
Astor - Aster is good.
Scout - no.
Blaze - no.
Greer- no
Indigo - at a push
Bali - naff
Fallon - ok
Holland - no
Tatum - no
Ace -,no
Brighton - no
Lumen - no
Teal - at a push
Halston - no
Collins - no
Gage - No

Pemba · 24/05/2020 11:19

In several years of following the baby names threads on Mumsnet this is the worst list I've ever seen. I assume you're joking?

Ace?? Collins??. Ace must be a joke, right? Ludicrous for a boy, positively cruel on a girl. Collins is clearly a surname meaning 'son of Colin' - how does that then become a girls name?

Pemba · 24/05/2020 11:21

I'd suggest going back to the drawing board, or if you are in fact serious get another family member to give you a list of actual names.

MadamShazam · 24/05/2020 11:25

Are you kidding OP? Thats the worst list of girls names I have ever seen!

SpaceSharkTea · 24/05/2020 11:26

Harper - nice but nothing special
Ocean - guilty pleasure especially for a girl with blue eyes!
Lilac - don't hate/don't love
Astor - not a fan
Scout - love it!
Blaze - too boyish for me
Greer - Germaine Greer really puts me off
Indigo - love it!
Bali - never heard this, but I do like it
Fallon - bleurgh
Holland - love this!
Tatum - too boyish
Ace - too boyish
Brighton - I like this if it has some relevance and they won't be growing up in Brighton
Lumen - I prefer Luma
Teal - too boyish
Halston - bluergh
Collins - bleurgh
Gage - cute

GinWithRosie · 24/05/2020 13:01

Are you not coming back OP? @twistandshoutoutloud

Fanciedachange1 · 24/05/2020 13:45

I see one big flaw with these names.

Apart from Harper, which is a well known name, the others are too “out there”. You could call a child Lumen thinking that it’s so unique and then someone you know could love it and call their child the same.

Then suddenly you have gone from having a unique name that you love, to your child being one of the Lumens. Then it loses everything that you liked about it which is the fact that nobody else has it.

Kokeshi123 · 24/05/2020 13:48

Harper is the only one that's not actively weird. I mean, it's not nice. But not as bad as the others.

They sounds like pet names, paint names or boys' names.

Sorry, OP!

Bertucci · 24/05/2020 13:51

They're all ridiculous, apart from Harper and the Beckhams have rendered that name naff as fuck.

whatausername · 24/05/2020 16:14

@SpaceSharkTea Bali is a place in Indonesia popular with gap year students and Australians who want to go somewhere "exotic", get drunk and get laid. It'd be like calling your child Magaluf.

whatausername · 24/05/2020 16:43

I should clarify that it's more specific areas of Bali, like Denpasar, that can be Magaluf-esque but they are generally lumped together under the name of the island they're on (Bali).

daisydukes7576 · 24/05/2020 17:05

Harper is the only nice one. Tatum is OK, the rest are terrible sorry 😐

Phoebeboo · 24/05/2020 17:41

Love Scout and Lilac.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 24/05/2020 19:17

Probably not a huge help here as I pretty much dislike them all. Sorry OP, we have very different taste.

Harper - OK, but people will assume you are copying the Beckhams
Ocean - too hippy dippy for me
Lilac - a bit wet
Astor - sounds masculine
Scout - Scouting for Boys!
Blaze - awful. Sounds like a WWF wrestler
Greer - hate
Indigo - Ok but sounds like a boys name
Bali - naff
Fallon - wasn't she on Dynasty?
Holland (and Barratt for your next child?)
Tatum - not my taste
Ace - another wrestler!
Brighton - oh please no....
Lumen - this doesn't even sound like a name
Teal - dislike
Halston - horrible
Collins - also horrible
Gage - again, horrible

Indigo is the best of the bunch, I think.

SundayGirl86 · 24/05/2020 19:20

I like Harper and Scout - bet you can guess my favourite book too!

elfran · 24/05/2020 21:32

I genuinely love Greer, it's on my list.

All the others are... not to my taste.

bluemoon2468 · 24/05/2020 21:39

My name is on this list. It's stupid. I hate it. I've spent my whole life wishing I was called Sophie or something. And it's not even the most stupid name on this list (Gage? GAGE?! Like a temperature gage?!)

lustforlife · 24/05/2020 21:41

Love Ocean, Lilac and Indigo Smile wish my DP agreed on Lilac for our daughter!

Destroyedpeople · 24/05/2020 21:43

No offence but you do realise that one day this person might be applying for courses and jobs and so on?
I don't mind Tatum but the rest are awful. Sorry you did ask.

Destroyedpeople · 24/05/2020 21:44

Why would you name a person 'gauge'? Honestly?

OtterBe4 · 24/05/2020 21:51

These aren't baby names, at a push for pets but even then Hmm
I hope you're not on the glue Grin
