Names you’d never use but would love to?

ChristmasCarcass, one of my exs loved “kingly Germanic names”, especially Florian and Ruprecht. I wasn’t convinced.

I think Apollo would be a cool name for a boy. And after reading about the Renaissance artist Sofonisba Anguissola, I’m a bit sad I couldn’t get away with Sofonisba for a girl.

Camelot and Lancelot haha plus Merlin
Salem
Constantine
Jocelyn, Lindsey and Evelyn - for boys

Prudence
Temperance
Pandora

Memphis but if I have another dc I'm seriously considering it ShockGrin

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 22/04/2020 10:38

I love Saturn for a little girl. Its not a guilty pleasure nAme, though, I’d use it.
However my DD is called Molly so I think she’d feel a bit short changed with a sister named Saturn.Grin

MissingMo · 22/04/2020 10:48

Cervantes for a boy, chickened out of Persephone although I absolutely love it.

ANoiseAnnoys · 22/04/2020 10:51

I love Hector for a boy but probably wouldn’t use it as it also means “to talk to someone in a bullying way”!

Dh and I also loved Bruno when pregnant with ds but then that bloody film with Sacha Baron Cohen came out!

ANoiseAnnoys · 22/04/2020 10:53

Eldest ds was almost named Kelly - I love Kelly for a boy but DH put me off!

Oh, and Demeter for a girl - goddess of the harvest. It’d probably get shortened to Demi though which I don’t like.

userabcname · 22/04/2020 11:06

I love Persephone! I'm totally using it if I ever have a girl.
DH wanted Hades for a boy so I had to point out that's like calling a child Lucifer!
Neither of our boys are called Hades you'll be glad to know.

SkaLaLand · 22/04/2020 11:47

Girl - Tabitha
Boy - Valentine

We are just nowhere near posh enough

MashAndChips · 22/04/2020 20:37

I suggested Cassidy when pregnant with my second but DH didn't like it - we compromised though and now we have a beautiful daughter named Cassie which I love even more!

I love (but could never use) Stella and Luna for girls. Love Robin for a little boy too.

Acaciaqu · 22/04/2020 20:41

@MissMatchedClaws as in Tamar Braxton?

FartnissEverbeans · 22/04/2020 22:10

I love Persephone too and would definitely use it.

My guilty pleasure name is Sailor for a girl... I just love it and I don’t know why! Scout too,
although I’m not a big fan of To Kill a Mockingbird and it’s a bit ‘Check me out, I did GCSE English’

MissMatchedClaws · 23/04/2020 11:21

Nope, sorry, never heard of Tamar Braxton. Just an underused biblical name that I like :) Plus it shortens well (Tay) and everyone gets a single syllable name from me eventually...

SocksForceFive · 23/04/2020 13:12

I love Bianca for a girl but that's been forever ruined by Eastenders

Rufus for a boy but a bit too much of a name for a pet

BuyorRent · 23/04/2020 14:14

Adore Loveday but would never be brave enough to use it!

Also love Raphael, Bay, and James for a girl!

Pantheon · 23/04/2020 14:16

Raphael
Adeline
Nina
Evelyn
Roxi
(if my dh would agree, I would go for these!)

Bubbletrouble43 · 23/04/2020 16:36

Allaboard a very close friend of mine has a son called basil : people were a bit 🤔 at first but it quickly became very likeable and it really suits him. She said she loves shrieking " Basil!!" at him like prunella scales 🤣

prismWitch · 23/04/2020 16:57

For a girl I always loved Maddison and Harper, but I know that my dh would hate them.

For boy I wanted Ethan or Ewan, but first he hated as too hoitty toitty and second he pronouces as you one (scottish lads eh!), and I just imagined my life with him making this stupid joke over and over again and decided nope XD.

20wedding19 · 23/04/2020 17:26

I'm 14 weeks pregnant so still discussing boy and girl names
I would never choose Amos now..
Me: DH, what about Amos?
DH: Silence
Me:....
DH: Wait, what did you say? Anus???

Thanks DH, stricken off the list for good

Standrewsschool · 23/04/2020 17:30

Roderigo -loved the name since studying Othello at school. No Italian connections so never seriously considered.

Standrewsschool · 23/04/2020 17:33

Constantine and Magdalena sounds right together as siblings!

whatausername · 23/04/2020 17:36

Judas.

Impossible to use for obvious reasons but I really like the sound.

Amadeus - seems, hmmm, shall we say 'aspirational' 😂

Deux · 23/04/2020 17:39

Loretta or Julie for a girl

Innes for a boy

MarshaBradyo · 23/04/2020 17:40

Bruno

I love both and used as middle names

MarshaBradyo · 23/04/2020 17:41
