Brother to Everest

Hi all
I have a 2 yo named Everest and we love the name. We call him Evi (Ev-ee) for short.
I’m looking for another unique boy name that’s cool like everest but not one of the growingly popular cool names. Needs to be less known.
We were thinking of Oslo (ozzy as a nn). What do you think of that? My husband worries it sounds like a dogs name though I’ve never heard of a dog named Oslo. Is it too weird?

Any thoughts or other ideas that are unique and strong like everest?

I prefer traditional names myself but actually as unusual names go I think Everest is lovely and Evi and Ozzy go really well. Both names are equally geographical and abbreviate well and you can hardly go for an Oscar after an Everest.

The only thing I'd ask is, is there a personal reason for these specific names? Did you meet in the Himalayas? Did you conceive in Norway? Are those places of any significance to you as a family at all? Place names work best as names if they have some personal meaning, otherwise your dc will be spending a lot of time saying, Yes, like the city, No I've never been. Well I'm not really sure. No I don't speak Norwegian. No my parents have never been. No they're not climbers. etc

Eyjafjallajökull

You need to check names.darkgreener first OP.

No babies registered as Everest as far as I could see.

Blursula · 18/04/2020 12:59

@LizzieLoafer and you should check the facts.

’The ONS does not include baby names with a count of two or less in England and Wales to protect the confidentiality of individuals.’

Dark greener takes its stats from ONS. The website clearly states it doesn’t include names that were given to just one or two children.

Kanchenjunga?! (Haha... like many PPs, I am HILARIOUS.)

I’m not crazy about Oslo (it’s along the same kind of lines as Otto, isn’t it?), but I also don’t think it’s terrible or ridiculous.

SegregateMumBev · 18/04/2020 13:05

Slieve Donard is the highest mountain in Norn Irn.

I think Donard (nn Don or Donny) might work!

I genuinely read the title of the op and thought it was a title of one of those shitty airport books that you buy for an easy read.
Brother to Everest.
Sounds like a journey of self discovery

OP I have an ex student who has an Atlas and an Everest! I like Oslo - my son’s girlfriend’s brother is called Oslo.

MamaCoco123 · 18/04/2020 13:20

Wow I cant believe the comments on here! I know of a 5 year old called Everest and while it's not to my taste you've already said that your 2yo has this name so not sure why people are being so rude.

I actually think Oslo is actually quite cool and Ozzy definitely matches Evi as a nickname! I know a Milan and a Venice and I have to say I think Oslo is much better than both of those!
