As the title says quite like the simplicity of the name but not sure everyone will share the love. What do you think?

I have met one female and one male Bo in my lifetime

Dozer · 28/02/2020 19:44

In UK Bo Peep or B.O. (body odour) come to mind.

TriciaMcMillan · 28/02/2020 19:46

@user Yes!

Lipperfromchipper · 28/02/2020 19:50

I know a Bo...she’s 8. I like it, it suits her.

botemp · 28/02/2020 19:50

It's what I get called on MN Smile I'm Dutch and it's quite a common (mostly) girl's name here. Usually short for Bodil which is a Scandi unisex name, sometimes it's spelled Bodile or Bodille.

Jj2431 · 28/02/2020 19:50

Peep..

Nooo

Monetmoney · 28/02/2020 19:51

Definitely would be picked on at school for the body odour link!

carlyclock · 28/02/2020 19:53

And the body odour thing that someone said above does worry me a little

It should. I read it as B.O. until I realised it was baby names.

IOYOYO · 28/02/2020 19:53

Bo Derek. Totally legitimate name and I really like it. Considered it when I was pregnant...the only thing that worried me was it being conflated B.O (body odour) but then kids will always find a reason to laugh at eachother.

Crack on if you like it, op

Elouera · 28/02/2020 19:56

I think of Bo Selecta! (can't get the oversized plastic mask from my mind!)

No, I'm not a fan do to teasing of Bo Peep and body odour!
What about Belle? Bella? Bea?

carlyclock · 28/02/2020 19:57

Bo Derek. Totally legitimate name

Her name is MARY.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/02/2020 19:57

I like it, but not with that spelling. I know the spelling won’t change the sound, but It’s fascinating the way you can like a name with one spelling and dislike it with another.

behindlocknumbernine · 28/02/2020 20:01

There is a girl called Bo at the school where I work. Gorgeous girl. Lovely name. No one has ever made connection to b.o., nor Bo Peep or anything else.
It’s simply her name. 🙂

Sowo · 28/02/2020 20:03

I know a Bo, short for Boźenka. Can't think how to spell the pronunciation. The ź is like the 'sch' at the start of 'schengen' as in schengen area.

It feels totally normal to me as I've known her since I was a child. It is quite an unusual name though.

Fantasiaa · 28/02/2020 20:04

I read it as B. o as in Body odour.
No.
If you want it go with beau

frillseeking · 28/02/2020 20:04

Absolutely love it, both for a girl and boy but DH would never agree to it. I know there's people will say about BO etc and it's becoming a bit of a chav name but I just love it for some reason!

fearney · 28/02/2020 20:09

Beamur - except Bo Derek is actually called Mary.

Beau is a masculine french adjective. It means handsome, hence a male name. Bo is also a Swedish/Danish male name.
I don't think Bo is good as a stand alone name in the uk for a girl, not only because of the BO comments she will get. It just doesn't feel complete. As a nickname it's fine.

sleepytimebaby · 28/02/2020 20:13

Quite a mixed bag here which is nice it's nice to get another point of view

Ulrika Jonson's daughter is Bo.

You could name her Bonnie and nickname Bo.

123Dancewithme · 29/02/2020 00:33

Too much like B.O.

Crystal87 · 29/02/2020 00:40

Please don't

BikeRunSki · 29/02/2020 00:46

Bo Derek. Famous actress in the 1980's
1960s!!!!

My sister is known as Bo. Her given name is Zoe, but everyone has known her as Bo since she was 3or 4. Teachers, friends, family, colleagues, clients...

She didn’t get “body odour” teasing at school, but then she is cool enough that she’d make body odour fashionable.

Thisismytimetoshine · 29/02/2020 00:50

It just looks (and sounds) unfinished. Too short and abrupt. And yes to it being the Irish word for cow...

iknowimcoming · 29/02/2020 00:52

Bo and Luke Duke, from dukes of hazzard - showing my age!

Rubybluesy · 29/02/2020 00:53

Awful
