For a girl. What are your thoughts? Old English in origin.

I quite like it . It's pretty popular in my neck of the woods

Mamato2gorgeousboys · 24/02/2020 23:04

I have never heard of it. Not a fan either tbh. It sounds like a surname, if anything.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 24/02/2020 23:04

Love!

funmummy48 · 24/02/2020 23:06

I think it's dreadful.....sorry!😐

VisionQuest · 24/02/2020 23:06

It reminds me too much of that Lovejoy character from the 80s so its a no from me!

DramaAlpaca · 24/02/2020 23:07

I'm sorry but I think it's awful.

undercoveraessedai · 24/02/2020 23:09

Reminds me of The Little White Horse - but I don't think I'd name a modern day baby after her.

Twooter · 24/02/2020 23:11

I’ve only heard of it from one of my favourite children’s books , The Little White Horse. Is it a Cornwall name?

Marmaladegin · 24/02/2020 23:12

I wanted it! Was vetoed by DH. Beautiful but you (and dd) will spend huge amounts of time having to answer "sorry, what?" from luddites.

SoupDragon · 24/02/2020 23:14

Awful.

FleurNancy · 24/02/2020 23:19

I'm in Cornwall so it's normal here. Not that common but no-one raises an eyebrow when they hear it.

AlexaAmbidextra · 24/02/2020 23:22

There was a character called Loveday in the Rosamund Pilcher book Nancherrow wasn’t there? That was set in Cornwall. I wouldn’t like it for my name, although I did once meet a woman of about twenty called Loveday.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 24/02/2020 23:24

Loveday Carey-Lewis!
Gorgeous! But very hard to live with I imagine.

OfftoPenscome · 24/02/2020 23:30

Coming Home was fine Rosamunde Pilcher book.

I always thought my teen self would have liked hanging out with Loveday Carey-Lewis.

I really love the book and like the name.

Ozgirl75 · 25/02/2020 03:03

I was at school with a girl called Loveday and she would roll her eyes and say “parents are Cornish”. She did carry it off though, she was friendly and jolly. Harder if you’re a bit of a grump I suppose.

soundsystem · 25/02/2020 04:09

I really like it

villainousbroodmare · 25/02/2020 04:46

I like it.

msmith501 · 25/02/2020 04:55

.... sounds like a plan for a nightmare childhood to me.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 25/02/2020 07:09

Fucking awful.

emmathedilemma · 25/02/2020 07:45

Jeez, no!!

SurpriseSparDay · 25/02/2020 07:59

A very fortunate young woman at the Chalet School! IIRC she inherited a ranch in Argentina.

Glorious name but difficult to carry off with aplomb.

sassafras123 · 25/02/2020 08:21

Hideous !

Chouxalacreme · 25/02/2020 08:29

No please don’t

Mamabear88 · 25/02/2020 08:58

Truly awful

JillAmanda · 25/02/2020 09:00

Wasn’t that a character in a Ruth Rendell book?
