For a girl. What are your thoughts? Old English in origin.

I think it would make a lovely middle name.

I really really don’t like it. I actually much prefer ‘Love’ on its own as a name, weirdly, as I don’t normally like trendy or unusual names - but I recently watched season 2 of You on Netflix and really warmed to the name Love! Loveday is horrible though - sorry! It sounds like a surname. I literally had no idea it was even a name until I saw it on a recent MN board.

Bit harsh Karen, also a bit late - I have 3

I want to like it but I can’t. Agree would be a very nice middle name. It just sounds too much like a random noun being used as a name, like “Monday” or “Lovelorn”.

BarkandCheese · 25/02/2020 16:14

I sort of like it, but it doesn’t pass my would I like to be named it test, so it’s a no from me.

user1493494961 · 25/02/2020 17:37

It's a no from me.

BoudoirPink · 25/02/2020 17:42

My general rule is that if it is a name considered 'pretty' by Elinor M Brent-Dyer in her Chalet School books, avoid.

Quite apart from that, I agree with a pp who says it suggests things like 'lovesick' and 'lovelorn', or even 'lovebite'. Grin

Overthinker1988 · 25/02/2020 19:41

At first I thought "wtf" but it's grown on me. If the child grows up to be a really confident, quirky, arty type she could carry it off. If she's more shy and just wants to fit in she might hate it though.

Schmoozer · 25/02/2020 19:43

Yuck

thetrinityisshite · 25/02/2020 19:58

It's the surname of a family in hollyoaks.

It's a no from me 👎🏻

123Dancewithme · 25/02/2020 22:33

I know a few Lovedays as well as people who have it as a middle name. I quite like it! Think it is probably better as a middle name though.

Weaverspin · 25/02/2020 22:35

There’s a Loveday in one of the Poldark books, isn’t there?

ZebraKid71 · 25/02/2020 22:44

I actually really like it. Only ever heard it in the Rosamund Pilcher book! I used to think Loveday Carey-Lewis was a brilliant name!

SemperIdem · 25/02/2020 23:04

I like it but as a middle name. It’s a bit much as a first name

TatianaLarina · 25/02/2020 23:07

Well I suppose it’s better than Lovejoy.

Ok as a middle name.

AuntieStella · 25/02/2020 23:17

It's not an Old English name, it's a Cornish one.

I think it's a fantastic name (and have done ever since reading A Little White Horse

BaronessBomburst · 25/02/2020 23:26

I don't think it works outside of Cornwall.

BackforGood · 25/02/2020 23:32

Dreadful

theneighbourswindchime · 25/02/2020 23:35

Sounds like a porn star. *Soz.

*Not soz

MissCharleyP · 26/02/2020 18:02

There was a sweetshop where I grew up called ‘Lovedays’ and it was the family surname, so sounds more of a surname to me.

Puppywithattitude · 26/02/2020 18:06

Love it.

Kanga83 · 26/02/2020 18:52

I personally don't like it, but I know of a Rosalove which I actually quite like

PixieDustt · 26/02/2020 19:02

I like it. Not popular here at all.

TheMemoryLingers · 26/02/2020 19:07

Loveday Perowne in the Chalet School books was a lacklustre head girl, so I wouldn't choose it! Grin
