A middle name for Winter

Hi all,

Looking for some inspiration for a middle name to go with Winter - we don't know what we are having (due on Wednesday) but would be using this name for a little girl.

Want to avoid any flower names (Rose, Violet, Jasmine, Ivy etc.) as think it makes it sound too much like a plant. Also don't want Grace - over done and also a bit twee with Winter.

I quite like:

Winter Eden
Winter Esme
Winter Isla

Not set on any of them though!

Not looking for opinions on the name please - know it's not everyone's cup of tea and that's OK!!

What a great name, I'm normally quite traditional with names but I just love Winter. I hope it's a girl so you can use this!

Winter Elizabeth is gorgeous and I agree a longer, traditional name "grounds" the more unusual first name...i do love Winter Alexandra though...just has a slight edge for me.

I think you need a three-syllable conventional name to avoid sounding like a paint sample sheet eg Winter Elizabeth, Winter Katherine, Winter Athena, Winter Alexandra, Winter Selena, Winter Victoria, Winter Susannah.

Winter Sports? Winter Weather? Really, this is not a name - it is a season!! Poor child if it is landed with a name of this ilk.

Will get shortened to Win or Winnie or even worse, they'll be mocked and called Winter Cold or suchlike.
Not keen on either/or.
Some of these suggestions remind me that one day, this wonderful, innocent, adorable baby will be a fully fledged sophisticated grown-up and very likely seriously, murderously, resentful that their parent played celebrity bingo with their moniker.

Summer, Autumn and Winter are all known as names for people as well as seasons. Kids are named all sorts these days- I have a really really unusual name which happens to be a place. No doubt you’d disapprove of it as well but I love having an unusual name. Hopefully Winter will feel the same about her name being a season!

I like Winter but would avoid a middle name like Isla where the end sound is the same “Winter Isla” just doesn’t sound quite right, I think a short, string middle name would sound best.

I refer you to my OP where I stated that opinions on the name were unnecessary as I understand that it's not to everyone's taste and that is OK.

Not every name is liked by everyone. There are "risks" with a lot of names of you look hard enough. Or perhaps we should all just stick to Janes and Johns for fear of offending your narrow minds.

As you can see from this thread a lot of people happen to think it's a beautiful name so hardly going to be that damaging for a child. I suggest you perhaps get off your high horse and calm down with the snobbery. Also - it's 2020, let's try and not attack other women eh? Especially heavily pregnant ones who just happen to have different tastes from you. What made you take time out of your day to comment like that? What hateful urge from inside forced you to suggest my baby, due any day now, is going to resent me and be bullied. Honestly, WTF is wrong with you?

Also, accusing me of "Playing celebrity bingo" doesn't even make sense in this context. We've come across a name in a published UK Baby name book which we happen to like the sound of. It's name that has been used as early as the 18th century for little girls. Groundbreaking. Truly shocking...

PS. I happen to LOVE Winnie as a NN.
