I put a thread on AIBU about this because I'd had so many threads re names on here that I thought you'd be heartily sick of me.
We had chosen (with lots of help from you) a name for our ds who arrives in April.
We recently found out that ds has DS and dh didnt want to use the name we'd picked because he felt it was wrong for this baby. I was furious about this but one of the posters on AIBU said that children with DS often have problems pronouncing words with 2 consonants together. The name is Bram.
So we've moved the goalposts again and are trying to think of an easy to say/spell name preferably biblical cos my other 3 dc have biblical names ( not religious just like them)
Dh likes Seth (I'm not keen) I'm going round in circles. I know logically the biblical thing doesnt matter but I dont want this little one to be the odd one out.
Family members called Samuel, Isaac, Joshua, Peter, Noah, Benjamin and Matthew. I liked Adam but a "helpful" friend said not good because of A dumb. I cried about that. Really looking forward to baby and will adore him obvs. Any ideas?

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 26/01/2020 23:30

I love Bram, it's high on my list. I think it's to easy to say, spell, remember without being too common. Its short for Abraham or Abram if you want to lengthen it?

If it's out, I like Jonah, Jacob, Ezekial (Zeke), Micah, Josiah, Ezra

Jossina · 26/01/2020 23:30

Adam is fantastic. One of my favourites every since Spooks.

Catchuplater · 26/01/2020 23:33

My favourite biblical names are Caleb and Elijah (Eli). Both easy to say.

What is DS?

thrree · 26/01/2020 23:34

Some of my favourites; Daniel (Dan), Elias (Eli), Felix, Judah, Lucas, Oren, Reuben. I also like the name Leo which would be easy to say.

Beseen19 · 26/01/2020 23:34

I have a Seth who is 3 and the pronunciation isn't easy for toddlers or those with speech difficulties. Hes very clear spoken but a lot of his friends would say Sef. We have always called him Sethy which is a bit easier for other children to say but I can understand why a lot wouldnt like that.
What about Samson? If there is any difficulty he could be Sammy but his name on birth cert is a bible name like the others.
Micah is lovely too.

MrsEricBana · 26/01/2020 23:34

Bram is lovely. Jonah, Jacob too. Not Saul or Seth.

AtrociousCircumstance · 26/01/2020 23:38

Your friend is an absolute arse OP Angry No one in the history of everything has ever equated Adam with ‘a dumb’ - I mean wtf?

Dump the non-friend, keep the name.

I love Saul and Jacob too.

AppropriateAdult · 26/01/2020 23:39

DS is Down Syndrome.

Hope you’re doing ok, OP - it’s a lot to take in. We have a Luke which is biblical, short and easy to pronounce. I like Noah also.

Ninkanink · 26/01/2020 23:39

Adam is just fine, ‘a dumb’ is not a thing.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 26/01/2020 23:43

damptowel · 26/01/2020 23:48

Thomas is a solid classic.

Chocmallows · 26/01/2020 23:50

Never heard that stupid comment about the name Adam. Have a family member with the name and really don't think it's a thing. Great name.

More family names...I like Luke too and Thomas (Tom straightforward to spell and say when young).

bluechameleon · 26/01/2020 23:54

I think Seth might be tricky to pronounce - I like a PP's suggestion of Tom/Thomas.

Wheresthebiffer2 · 27/01/2020 00:35

you mention family members have those names - does that rule out using them? I wasn't sure.

how about John?

Tillygetsit · 27/01/2020 01:15

Thanks for the replies. The names listed are all children in our family...my dh has 12 cousins with children and I have 4. 2 siblings of mine have dc and 2 of dh. One family member has 5 children thankfully only 1 boy! We have a Joseph. I love Daniel, John and Jacob but dh isnt keen. Peter is a possibility. What do you think?
