Juniper!

I've always had a soft spot for this name, and amazingly it is now on DP's and my agreed shortlist - although it's not his favourite.
Is it just too...nippy? I think it's got a great sound to it, and good shortenings. (I never thought choosing names would be this hard.)
For interest, other names on list:
Freya
Lilias
Theadora
Ada

Juniper is nice

So are Ada and Thea and Freya ❤️

CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 18:11

(Sorry I've just started 2 threads by the way! For some reason I specifically wanted to compare Ada and Thea..)

I actually really like it. It's a bit different while still being recognisable. June/Junie/Juno are nice nicknames, too.

I also like Lilias and Ada. Freya is nice too but very popular. Like Thea, but not keen on Theodora.

HelenaJustina · 11/01/2020 18:21

Really really like Juniper. Unfortunately too close to my own name for us to use.

riotlady · 11/01/2020 18:32

Love it, was gutted when my partner vetoed it!

CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 18:51

I stupidly mentioned it to someone at work a couple of months ago now, and they laughed... Which sticks in the mind

Juniper is a lovely fabulous name but does remind me of the Grimm fairy tale the Juniper Tree which is a very dark and bloody tale! Not saying that's a bad thing though!

kulaexchange · 11/01/2020 19:16

Juniper is beautiful. First time I've heard it and love it.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 11/01/2020 19:25

I love Juniper, beautiful name!!

SinkGirl · 11/01/2020 19:41

Love it

SpeedofaSloth · 11/01/2020 19:43

Jennifer Juniper lives upon the hill.

NoMorePoliticsPlease · 11/01/2020 19:44

Gin

CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 20:21

It's a bit less...boring? than Ada, Freya, Thea. I mean, I really like them, but they feel a bit overused maybe

OP posts:
Willow4987 · 11/01/2020 20:22

I really like it

Boireannachlaidir · 11/01/2020 20:24

Being brutally honest, I think it's awful. It just makes me think of gin. And that the child will end up being called June. Freya I love.

dreamsmama · 11/01/2020 20:28

@CassandrasCastle I think you're never going to find everyone loves your babies name! I am the opposite to a few PPs I love classic names maybe branded as "popular" I love Freya, Thea and Ada although I don't find them too popular. I try and think of will the name suit them at all stages of their life. If you love juniper go for it, it's your baby x

CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 20:32

@dreamsmama Oh I know! I definitely shouldn't be too sensitive about it Grin We both really like Freya, it's probably the name we agree on most...

Juniper is lovely!

Also love Freya and Thea, but dont like Theadora, Ada or Lilias

dreamsmama · 11/01/2020 20:35

@CassandrasCastle I was exactly the same with my little one. I wanted everyone to love my name and was so sensitive if somebody didn't haha! But in the end it's the only one we both agreed on! How long do you have left of your pregnancy? Smile x

CassandrasCastle · 11/01/2020 20:39

I'm 26 weeks now, plodding along!

Juniper is the best of your names by miles. It sounds really fresh.

MsJuniper · 11/01/2020 23:19

❤️

Flymetothestars · 11/01/2020 23:25

Juniper is ok

Freya, Thea and Ada are GORGEOUS though ❤️

sippingcoffee · 11/01/2020 23:31

Lovely for a pet but not for a child

DrivingMsCrazy · 11/01/2020 23:32

Oh I've never come across Juniper as a girls name before but I actually really really like it! Yes I can see there may be the odd "funny" comment about gin but I wouldn't let that stop you using it! It's lovely!

I like Freya and only know of one where I am (Scotland).

I also like Theadora but the couple I know whose DD say it as a hard T not "th" so like Tay-a-dora as they are not from the UK.

Ada is meh.
