Are any of these names chavvy?

Sorry for the goady title, I'll probably get flamed for using the term 'chavvy' but I just need to know if I'm setting my future child up for a lot of judgement. People do judge others for their names after all. So we have:

Summer
Lydia
Elise
Autumn
Aurelia

I love Aurelia

I’d use that as first name

Lavenderblues · 17/11/2019 11:26

I'd also like to know where those that find Elise chavvy live?Shock

I find Autumn and Summer a little chavvy.

Thetimetravelerswife · 17/11/2019 11:53

Summer is in my opinion...
I don’t think Elise is...maybe Elsie is...(if not a nickname for a longer name)

Worrier167 · 17/11/2019 14:05

Really interesting to hear all the different views. Must depend on area. Neither Aurelia or Elise would be even slightly chavvy in my area!

mathanxiety · 17/11/2019 14:10

Elise is a filler middle name where I am.

SuitedandBooted · 17/11/2019 15:01

Lydia is lovely. Classic and still a bit unusual.

Autumn and Summer are certainly a bit chavvy around here (posh SE area). Elise seems to cover both extremes.

I really like Constance too, and Connie is a nice NN

Lydia Constance Smile

cocomelon23 · 17/11/2019 16:48

Elise is a car so along the lines of naming your child Mercedes Confused.

missmouse101 · 17/11/2019 17:32

Elise is along the same lines as Elisha. Chavvy where I am, in Wales.

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 17/11/2019 17:44

@cocomelon23 Have you considered that the name Elise existed long before cars were invented? HmmConfused

NotaWagon · 17/11/2019 17:47

Aurelia is very Disney and therefore I think yes in answer to your question.

NotaWagon · 17/11/2019 17:47

Autumn is not a name really

TatianaLarina · 17/11/2019 18:51

Aurelia is very Disney

I despair of cultural associations on here. It’s very Roman.

Not everyone’s life is dominated by Disney.

NotaWagon · 17/11/2019 18:56

Well mine certainly isn't. But the Roman inspiration has always been there to draw from and yet it took a Disney film to make the name popular.

So, Despair away! I still think the name is DREADFUL and it is the one name from OP's list that makes me want to answer ''YES''

userabcname · 17/11/2019 19:00

Celeste is a beautiful name! Also love Felicity.

TatianaLarina · 17/11/2019 19:01

Speak for yourself. Disney did not make the name popular with me.

Aurelia and Lydia are the two classical names that are not chavvy. The others are rather.

bookmum08 · 17/11/2019 19:04

Those names say All Girls Grammar School in Suburban Surrey to me.

RowenaMud · 17/11/2019 19:06

Summer
Lydia
Elise
Autumn
Aurelia

Apart from Aurelia and perhaps Elise, I think all the others are tbh particularly Lydia, Summer and Autumn.

NotaWagon · 17/11/2019 19:07

@TatianaLarina, clearly they did make it popular with the general public

You may love the name and not want that to be the case, but it is.

Aragog · 17/11/2019 19:13

yet it took a Disney film to make the name popular.

It isn't that long ago when the name was used for a Disney Princess. Think its been used as a first name in the UK for far longer ime.

pinksparkleunicorns · 17/11/2019 19:15

Sorry but after Lydia I will always hear chlamydia.

Summer to me is very chavvy. It's also not to my taste.

Autumn I love but maybe borderline. I like the others 😊

pinksparkleunicorns · 17/11/2019 19:16

Felicity Constance

Is what I'd go with

NotaWagon · 17/11/2019 19:17

It was never very popular though. Part of what tarnishes a name is a particularly fast rise in its popularity. If you like it, you like it, there are worse names.

Lydia Constance is lovely OP

ClaraClaraMissesMama · 17/11/2019 19:20

Summer is definitely chavvy. Autumn borderline - not keen.
I like lydia, Elise, felicity and constance Smile

missmouse101 · 17/11/2019 19:27

Don't understand the Lydia love. It's awful. So harsh and dated and ugly. How is a 'Lid' and 'ear' sound at all attractive?
