Silver

I've liked this name for a girl since the start of my pregnancy.

I've only got a few weeks left and I really like it again now.

What's everyone's thoughts?
I don't want to get flamed for saying the word because I'm by no means judgemental or posh at all but does it come across a bit chavvy?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
7Worfs · 05/11/2019 08:38

If you are a celebrity, you can get away with it Wink
How about Sylvia or similar? You can call her Silver as a pet name.

Cordial11 · 05/11/2019 08:41

I LOVE IT! I have loved it since the 90210 reboot. Doesn’t go with our surname though Sad

MissHenty · 05/11/2019 08:42

I agree with Sylvia nn Silver x

bn02 · 05/11/2019 08:43

@Cordial11 I was watching 90210 for the first time when I found out I was pregnant so it was one of the first names I loved from watching that regularly!!!!! Grin

I like Sylvie which is a very similar sound but is actually a name. I would not name a child Silver.

VolcanionSteamArtillery · 05/11/2019 08:50

Are you giving birth to a horse?

Im not sure i could saddled them with a lifetime of lone ranger jokes.....

Otherwise its a pretty name

Cordial11 · 05/11/2019 09:17

@bn02 do it! You have my backing!

CockleburIck · 05/11/2019 12:48

No, that's a silly name. Actually it's not a name at all. Unless you're a horse or something.

TheJoxter · 05/11/2019 12:53

I’ve met a child with Silva as a middle name, also know people called Selva, Silvie, and Silvia. Silver isn’t too different to any of them so I’d say go for it!

MagratsDanglyCharms · 05/11/2019 12:58

How about the welsh name Arian - means Silver, (you could change to Arianne, Arianna) and you could legitimately anglicise to Silver as a nickname.... (so one official name and one 'known as' name)

chipsandpeas · 05/11/2019 12:58

but in 90210 silvers real name was erin, silver was her surname

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 05/11/2019 13:00

It's a bit Jackie Collins, but not awful in itself.

Princessfaffalot · 05/11/2019 13:02

Yeah...unless you’re giving birth to a horse Silver is utterly ridiculous. You can of course call your child what you like, but they will be utterly miserable with that name.

BykerBykerWooooo · 05/11/2019 13:02

Neeeeeigh. Don’t do it.

DameSylvieKrin · 05/11/2019 13:03

You’re probably right that people who use the word chavvy would use it to describe this name.
I have a name that MN deems chavvy, hasn’t held me back.

pooopypants · 05/11/2019 13:03

What about platinum? Sounds far posher

TheReluctantCountess · 05/11/2019 13:08

No.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 05/11/2019 13:35

Not if your surname is Cross.

ChelseaCat · 05/11/2019 13:42

Not keen, sorry OP

LeekMunchingSheepShagger · 05/11/2019 13:50

God no.I feel like a name should actually be a name.

Saisong · 05/11/2019 13:52

I know a Silva and a Selva, which are both lovely names if you wanted to consider something similar

PrincessHoneysuckle · 05/11/2019 13:56

I like Silvie

NationMcKinley · 05/11/2019 13:59

I know a little girl called Silver. I love it. Wish I was called Silver

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 05/11/2019 14:00

I like it a lot. Very similar to Sylvie so why not?

I think it juuust misses being chavvy. Goldie would be chavvy. In fact I would proffer that actually Sylvie is chavvier.....

MikeUniformMike · 05/11/2019 14:21

Is your surname Fox, OP?
